Tune for the Town?
Tune for the Town?
Sunday, 28th Aug 2011 09:16

Town are offering fans the chance to definitively vote on whether goal celebration music will be played at Portman Road, and if so which tune will ring around the stands.

Some of the tracks up for the vote are the ones supplied to the Supporters’ Club when they asked for original tunes last season, while the new version of Singing the Blues played at the Southampton game, The Fratellis’ Chelsea Dagger and the options of none of the above or no music at all are also on the list.

To hear all the choices and to vote, visit the club site with the results to be announced prior to the Coventry City match on Monday 19th September.

Meanwhile, fans will be given the chance to celebrate their own Portman Road goals via an auction to raise money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer later in the year.

Bidders will be able to win a place in the teams for the match and training sessions under the guidance of Town stars from Robson’s era, while there will also be the opportunity to be a ‘club owner’ and sit in the directors’ box and make use of the boardroom facilities. Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Auction will take place in October.

No music! Away with showbiz-inspired corporate "celebrations." Give football back to the people! (Oh, and if they do that, then you need to make a noise when we score!)

Blasting out music after a goal is totally unnecessary and detracts from the unique atmosphere that only a goal can produce. It's manufactured and false, and it makes me cringe whenerver I hear it, whether it's at PR or anywhere else. Sorry, been wanting to say that for while !!!

Dont care what music is played as long as we score - maybe thats part of the problem, planning for goals when we should just score them

Lovetown - if you need music to lift te excitement of us scoring a goal i'd have a long hard look at yourself - we support ITFC and dont need music to "lift us"

No music ......fact.
You don't get any music when you score away from home as I recall, and I'm sure the atmosphere and feeling without it in them situations is pretty good.

an electric tag attached to everyone in the ground that activates whenever a goal is scored in order to achieve maximum noise...just a thought

Problem is the options are so bad, like a bunch of wannabe indie students mixed something up in their bedsit.

Give a fan a song and they'll sing for a day
Teach them how to sing and they'll sing forever

you know where I stand
