Wabara Now Set to Sign on Friday Thursday, 29th Sep 2011 18:07
Manchester City youngster Reece Wabara is now expected to complete his loan move to the Blues on Friday morning. Earlier today Town boss Paul Jewell confirmed that the Blues were close to confirming the addition of the 19-year-old on a 93-day loan.
Wabara, who tweeted that he was with his family in Bromsgrove earlier this afternoon [and late this evening has said he has arrived at his "destination"], is set to be signed in time to be in consideration for Saturday’s home game against Brighton, although appears unlikely to start as he will at best only have limited time training with his new team-mates.
The England U20 international was first linked with Town earlier in the week when Reading, Millwall and Blackpool were also reported to be interested.
Wabara joined City from Walsall as a youngster and signed a new three-year professional deal earlier in the year.
City are allowing the highly-rated Midlander to move on for the short-term spell to get games under his belt with his first team experience so far only one sub appearance on the final day of last season.
Wabara comes from a sporting family with ex- Liverpool winger Mark Walters and heavyweight boxer Pele Reid his father Martin’s half-brothers. His grandfather, Lawrence Wabara, was an international footballer with Nigeria in the 1950s.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jimmy Bullard says he's enjoying his role at the deepest point of the Blues' midfield diamond and is getting fitter with every game: “I’m feeling a lot better, I feel I can get around the pitch a lot more.
"My role is sitting in front of the back four, getting on the ball as much as possible and trying to break up play.
"It means I don’t get as much license to get forward as I would like — I don’t get past the halfway line these days — but that’s my job.”
The 32-year-old says Town's two-man strike force of Jason Scotland and Michael Chopra has been a factor in Town's upturn in form: “The two up front helps us get out a bit easier.
"They have been great up front. Jason is a big, strong boy who holds the ball up well and helps us get up the pitch. He seems to have confidence and long may it continue."

Garv - agreed Long may the diamond continue to work superbly but there will probably be a time soon when we need to mix it up a bit as the opposition try to stifle our new brand of flowing football. I think PJ will stick with Leadbitter which is ok and I can only really see Carlos working on the right in a 4-4-2. However whilst Man Utd don't play with a diamond formation, Giggs when he plays now has moved from out on the wing to the left side of the two in the middle. My theory falls down a bit as I suspect Giggs could play at centre back and still play well. Carlos has seemed like a different player over the last 3/4 games, prior to that I couldn't see why he was getting a game anywhere on the park.

Edwards gets some very unfair stick his actions off the pitch do are nothing to do with his performance in a town shirt... I think he has been given far to harder time this season and recently as a wing back has shown what he can do. Why drop him for a player that isn't ours and will return to man city in Jan. A good signing as back up both for Carlos should he be unable to play or is needed in midfield, also however good cover for Collins who goes back at a very key time for us mid December.

Churchmans - keane had plenty of support , initially - But he had no rapport with players or staff - FACT , Could not attract the right sort of players - FACT , Had no man management skills - FACT and left this club in the worst mess it has been in - FACT ...We have all moved on so lets not spoil the party mentioning Clueless Keane IMO , PJ has assembled the best squad of players at PR I can remember since the great team of late 70s , early 80s(SQUAD OF 12!!- in those days!)

Blueherts.... while I agree that we have moved on from the disaster zone that was Keane, "the best squad of players at PR... since the late 70s / early 80s"? PJ is showing signs that he's gradually turning the club around, and the current run is obviously very encouraging, but there are still a number of flaws at the club at present which prevent us from being regular challengers like Royle's first couple of seasons here. I'm confident that in time PJ will make us a team to be feared at the very top of this division though.

Best of Luck to Reece Wabara, if he turns out better at RB than Carlos we've managed to improve the squad and that's a good thing, he'll also cover Sonko when needed I guess with Delaney preferred at LCB cover . . . Good Luck Reece COYB
