Orient Yet to Receive Porter Enquiry
Orient Yet to Receive Porter Enquiry
Wednesday, 16th Nov 2011 18:18

Leyton Orient chief executive Matthew Porter says his club are yet to receive any enquiries regarding winger George Porter. Town are amongst a number of clubs understood to be eyeing the 19-year-old.

But the O’s chief says he’s yet to be contacted regarding the former Cray Wanderers man: “We have not had an enquiry from anyone about George.”

Nottingham Forest, Charlton and Southend are some of the other clubs believed to be interested in Porter.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Paul Jewell has spent the last couple of weeks reviewing this season’s matches so far, concluding: “Not everything is right, but there is not as much wrong as everyone thinks.

“We have got some good players and have played some terrific football. Against West Ham, Middlesbrough, Cardiff and Brighton we had a shape that seemed to suit us perfectly.

“But when I watch all the DVDs, the concentration levels and giving silly goals away sticks out to me. I can see signs of some real progress at times, but I also see some real backward steps.”

A shame, as I was hoping their was truth in this link. We'd all love to see some more promising youngsters follow Cresswell and Emmanuel-Thomas through the Portman Road doors.

I noted your derogatory comment's about this player yesterday but decided not to rise to the bait. However as you insist....!
I presume you have seen him play on a number of occasion's to arrive at this qualified opinion....? I thought as much!
As an Orient and Town supporter I would be sad to see him leave the O's at this stage of his career as the confidence he gain's from every start with the O's is obvious. He does have some limitation's but at 19 who doesn't. You appear to have plenty!
This guy IMO, has excellent potential to step up a league and keep improving. He is the type of player who, at his age, will profit from playing with better player's around him. I hope Town give him a trial or on loan with a view to purchase. Then again, I want Orient to keep him, because he will only get better without a doubt, and the crowd, all 4,000 of 'em will miss the buzz of expectancy when he's on the ball.
Rubbish....yes you are. Your post's prove it.

"I presume you have seen him play on a number of occasion's to arrive at this qualified opinion....?" Why ask a question if you don't wait for the answer?

As a matter of fact, living near the O's ground, I have seen him on a number of occasions. And I stand by my earlier comments.

He has many limitations - no final ball, his "pace" is over exaggerated and he can't score for toffee. Maybe he will make the step up. In that case I'll eat my words. But my opinion is that he is a poor League 1 player who a newspaper columnist wrote good things about one time and now Jewell is "lazy scouting" him into Ipswich.

Your opinion could be (and probably is) more flawed than mine - we'll only know if he signs for town.

I used to live there about half a year ago and watched him play all the time. Give a few months and he'll be at a prem standard /:D
