Jewell: My Players Do Care Friday, 9th Dec 2011 15:10
Blues boss Paul Jewell has dismissed claims that his players don’t care whether they bring success back to Portman Road. While the Town manager was unhappy with their recent display at Burnley, he felt that last week’s performance against Watford showed that they are very much fighting for the cause.
Jewell says the players were down after losing 2-1 to the Hornets having been a goal in front: “The players were distraught, believe it or not.
"I felt the players on Saturday owed that performance to themselves as well as the supporters. They didn’t win the game but it wasn’t through the lack of trying.
“Everybody loses and we all hate losing but as much as it hurt on Saturday, I can take that defeat because we lost the right way. I know I can’t take the Burnley one."
He says he would have been somewhat downcast if the Turf Moor display had been replicated against Watford: “If we’d had a repeat of the Burnley performance against Watford I would have had some serious thinking to do because if you see that you think the players have given up, but I don’t think I saw that on Saturday.”

I agree with PJ on this one. Need to turn performances like last week into points though, starting tomorrow. 1-1 draw for me.

a rule of thumb to tell if the players care is if they show for the ball at throw-ins ...our players don't. We got players who talk the talk but don't walk the walk

Just more what shall we write dross from the club and the media, basically there is nothing to write about so let's make up a story, its make believe just like the standard of our football, non existent. I cannot remember when I left the ground saying that we had put in 100 %, perhaps what they are showing is all the energy they have left, whatever it is its high time something changed otherwise we are looking at 10K ST sales in the summer, never heard so many saying they are fed up with it and will not renew.

I do hate spin and I wish Phil wouldn't publised this devoid of comment. The only result I care about is a win tomorrow. PJ in my book is a very good manager, the players are all experienced professionals. Maybe for once we simply need lady luck

Talk is cheap, 1 game with effort doesn't cover up the other 6 when we've collapsed at the sign of any pressure against us, PJ's got 2 games to save his job starting tomorrow.....

Well he would say that. However, as Norwich found out to their cost during that horrendous relegation season, relying on loanees and has been frees DOES NOT WORK. Loanees will return to their clubs - they don't care if we go down. likewise, players like Bower, Ingermarsson, Ellington, Bullard and Wright are just delighted to have another decent contract before they retire. Afterall few other clubs were after them. PJ is clearly not building for the future - not with these old players and loans. So far it has back-fired on him.

Jas numerous clubs were after Bullard, Bowyer and Wright. You have no idea what clubs were after what players. You are full of negative rubbish.

Agree with Garv. In any case, I think January will see a freshening up. Also, for a bunch of people telling Jewell to stop gassing the same old rubbish, I suggest some of you take up your own advice. It's tiring.

With all the negativity on here from the Jewell out m--ons it is enough to send any sensible supporter into a depression ! It is enough we are suffering at the moment without having all the negative comments making the situation worse . What does changing managers every 6 months achieve , more instability , uncertainty , financial loss etc . It is going to take a lot more work for PJ to recover the damage caused by RK and he needs and deserves the chance and support to get it right . Some of your comments of negativity show how insecure and immature you are and a need to grow up !!
