Jewell Targeting Two Signings By Birmingham
Jewell Targeting Two Signings By Birmingham
Thursday, 5th Jan 2012 11:10

Town boss Paul Jewell says he hopes to have new faces in his squad by the time the Blues face Birmingham at St Andrew’s next Wednesday, one a permanent deal, one a loanee with a view to a longer-term deal.

Jewell told the club site: "We're hoping to have a couple of new faces in by the time we play Birmingham. It will be difficult to do anything before then because we have the FA Cup game to focus on first.

"But we're talking to clubs and players about coming here and we've made a couple of enquiries. Now we are seeing if we can get something sorted with those deals."

Lets hope that at least one of them is a defender.

Felt a shudder when i saw that one of them is a loanee. The view to a longer term deal thing cuts no ice either. Wasn't Andrews meant to be here with a view to a permanent move?

What's the betting we won't have signed anyone before birmingham yet....how many times have we heard that we are hoping to sign someone before such and such a date and it never happens!

That said, I seriously hope one of them is a centre back!

This is just not good enough ,Mr Jewell.I notice that you are talking to clubs and players.Tosh.Go to them and demand they come here.Thats bound to work.Ask most of the people on this site.
Getting players in is easy, you just tell them we want them.I think not.

Tip for PJ / Clegg;

On the loan deal.... agree a permanent fee and wages as a term of the loan deal, along with us having first option on the transfer.

Lets not have anymore Andrews / Collins situations.

At the wages that Andres is demanding i hope it isnt him. He might turn out to be another Bullard, get himself a permanant deal and then go off the boil.
If we are to believe Jewell that he is building for the future lets hope its a couple of lower league youngsters who are hungry to impress and are here for the long haul.
Please not a washed up Premier league injury prone player.
look to the lower leagues and abroard!!

On loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Or in the Ipswich Town dictionary: on loan with a view to giving up on a permanent deal.

Sadly I suspect this is Paul Jewell's way of appeasing disgruntled supporters. I would be very suprised if we had two new players on our books by Birmingham and even one would be amazing given the laborious way Simpe Simon negotiates.

That said, both Clegg and Jewell need to get the fans on side again and although this may be nothing more than a short term fix it will at least give them both a bit more breathing space in the short term.

I would like to see Andrews stay to end of season but only on loan, big problem if we sign him on a contract and go down we will never be able to pay his wages.
I also wish PJ would not make statements on possible new signings until they have put pen to paper.
