Town and Portsmouth are reportedly targeting Cardiff’s Welsh international defender Darcy Blake. The Blues were previously mentioned in connection with the 23-year-old in November when manager Paul Jewell dismissed the claim.

Speaking then, Jewell said: “He’s not one we’ve mentioned. I’m not saying he’s not a good player but he’s not one I’ve asked about.”

Brilliant news, see PJ it is not difficult to find good defenders in England (and Wales) you have just found 2 of the finest Championship / Premier League standard defenders. If we get this and the St Ledger signing I will be a very very happy person.

Its all well and good identifying decent defenders (any of which any Town fan could and has already done). But it actually getting these players to choose Town above other interested Clubs that's the problem and where Jewell and Clegg appear to fall short!

Retroblue :- Sadly the way we've become, I think you're totally right. I guess all we can do is dangle the money carrot and hope its more than other clubs. The only thing is, that open us up once again to players coming here just for the money and not the badge. The old cynic in me !
