Town Launch New Kits
Town Launch New Kits
Thursday, 5th Apr 2012 08:00

Town have launched their two new kits for next season. At home the traditional blue is augmented with more red than in previous years, while it’s a return to white and black away from home.

To promote the launch of the two kits, the club have produced a video, which you can find here, starring skipper Carlos Edwards, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Arran Lee-Barrett, Josh Carson and various co-stars filmed at Easton Farm Park.

Town’s retail manager Lee Hyde says he’s pleased with the new strips: “I am absolutely delighted with the new kits from Mitre for the 2012/13 season.

“The classic, clean, powerful look of the kits has been a real hit with the players and the manager and we're hoping that the fans love them too. The quality of the fabrics used this season is fantastic. The kits look and feel superb.

“We are the first English league club to unveil the new look for next season and that is testament to the work Mitre have put in over the last six months — and we are delighted with the end result.”

Captain Edwards is also a fan: “I really like the red stripe. I think that works well against the blue and the shirt is certainly comfortable to wear as well. Hopefully it can prove to be a winning look for us on the pitch next season.”

Northern Irish international Josh Carson was impressed with the away strip: “It’s a classic look. I think the fans will really take to both kits. Making the video was a great laugh as well. I can’t wait to see the out-takes!”

All home and away shirts will all carry three stars representing the three major trophies won by the club.

Fans can pre-order both kits from today at Planet Blue, online at www.itfcshop.co.uk or by mail order on (01473) 400501. The pre-order closing date for home shirts is June 9th to be collected on June 16th with the kit going on general sale from June 23rd.

The pre-order closing date for away shirts is June 30th, to be collected on July 21th with general sale starting from July 28th.

Those pre-ordering will receive 500 TeamCard points for each shirt ordered as well as a limited edition duffel bag, 50 per cent off shirt printing and will be entered into a prize draw, with two winners getting their entire pre-order free of charge.

Town are also offering free 12-month subscriptions to Ipswich Player to the first 50 fans who spend over £100 on pre-orders.

The shirts cost £42.99 for adults and £31.99 for children. If both home and away shirts are pre-ordered in the same size, there will be a discount of £5.98 per order, reducing the price of each shirt to £40 for adults and £29 for children.

Why are the itfc photographers so bad , as a professional photographer I would love to do a shoot like this, but the itfc photographers just seem to do it bad why put in a tractor then underexpose the background so bad you cant see it? Rant over

Kits look good though cant wait to win league in them

Too much like Rangers for my liking

In all seriousness though, I'm glad there's a return to simplicity. Can't stand all those whizzes and flashes on some of the more recent kits

I'm gonna have to spoil the party and say that I'm not a big fan of that red bit! The away kit is brilliant, and reminds me of the one worn about ten years ago, but I think the red just looks a bit complicated. I'm sure it will grow on me if the team do well in it, mind!

All looking good as i scrolled down the page until i got to Carlos' boots. I have just regurgitated my breakfast.

Any chance of a parental advisory warning Phil? " These images contains colours that may make you blow chunks"!

I prefer the 62 shirt. Pity we couldn't have gone for a semi-replica. Also what's with the stars? We've never won the champions league/European Cup. One star possibly for 1962 but 3 stars for different competitions is crazy. Imagine how many stars Liverpool or Man Utd would have. I respect past glory but it needs to be in scale.

Can all players wear the same boots as Carlos.

I like the red for 3 reasons:
i) I'm happy with the way it looks;
ii) Red was incorporated into our badge when the yellow was jettisoned. Red is the anti-yellow!
iii) it reminds me a little of the red Pioneer/Radio Orwell stripes.

I also quite like the away kit. Carson doesn't seem happy with his skirt though. Maybe he prefers a higher hemline...

Why can't the club position itself in a way that's more professional and less bumpkin?

@Scowie - your rant is perfectly justified. The photography is awful. The lighting and camera positioning / lens selection are unflattering. The kit is a bit of a let down too. The Marcus Evans logo is too big and features too low on the front of the shirt. The shoulder trim only serves to make the players appear to have narrower shoulders - Carless Edwards looks like he's a sack of potatoes - maybe that's intentional as the agricultural theme is continued in the video.

Embarrassed from Euskadi.

Have to say I really like the direction we've taken with this kit. Nice and simple. A lot better than some of our kits over the last few years.

Vast improvement on the home shirt. First time in years its not just been a rehash of the previous few years designs. Love the red stripes, and the shade of blue is spot on. Town haven't had a decent home shirt since the addidas days in the 80's! Ordering one now :)
