 Wednesday, 30th May 2012 15:00 Elliott Hewitt said he was delighted to be joining a "big club" like Town having become the Blues’ first new signing of the summer this afternoon. The right-back or midfielder, who also celebrates his 18th birthday today, put pen to paper on a three-year contract, the clubs having agreed a fee believed to be in the region of an initial £250,000 plus further milestone clauses. Hewitt told the club site: “I'm delighted to have signed for Ipswich and this is a really progressive move for me. To be joining such a big club is a great feeling and I can't wait to get started. "I picked up a [hip impingement] injury at the back end of last season, so I will be looking to get through my rehab first of all, and then come back as strong as ever and raring to go for Ipswich. "It was disappointing to finish with relegation at Macclesfield, but they've been great to me in all my time there and I can't thank them enough. Everybody at the club is really friendly. "But now I'm looking forward to this new challenge in my career and I'm really pleased to be here."
He says he’ll still keep in touch with the Silkmen as they try to get out of the Blue Square Bet Premier and back into the Football League: "I'll definitely be keeping watch on how the Silkmen are doing in future and will be coming to games when I can. “I have a lot of good friends there, and want to see how James Bolton and Andy Mills, lads I came through with, get on too."
