Some Matchday Prices Cut
Some Matchday Prices Cut
Wednesday, 11th Jul 2012 14:31

Town have cut some of their matchday ticket prices for 2012/13 season by around 20% and frozen some others. In the wake of last season’s ticketing trials, the club has reduced standard Grade C game adult prices to £20, £25 and £30 with seats for the opening match of the campaign against Blackburn on Saturday 18th August amongst those set at those levels. Grade A, B and D prices are frozen.

Chief executive Simon Clegg said: “Blackburn are obviously recently relegated from the Premier League and wouldn’t normally be classed as a Grade C game, but it’s our first Championship match of the season and a good opportunity for us to offer the very competitive ticket prices.

“The ticket price trial was relatively successful last season and we have taken that into consideration with our matchday ticket prices.

“We have kept prices frozen in three categories with a significant reduction in Grade C games but it’s important to recognise the commitment of those fans who purchase season tickets and that will always remain the most cost-efficient way of watching this club.”

Matchday prices have come in for significant criticism in recent seasons, including in the recent TWTD Questionnaire, with many fans feeling they are too high when compared to the pro rata cost of a season ticket.

The Blues will continue to discount the price of tickets purchased before matchday with an additional £2.50 for adults and concessions and £1 for under-16s added to seats bought on the day. Fans buying home match tickets online will not pay booking fees.

Meanwhile, due to the renaming of the East of England Co-operative Stand and the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand, Town are to send all season ticket holders new cards for the campaign ahead.

These are currently being printed and will start to be sent out in the week commencing July 23rd.

Great stuff. Would love to see bigger attendances and a better atmosphere every week. Fill the stands, do the business on the pitch, climb the table and we're all happy. Now free beer and half time lap dances and we'll have nothing left to complain about!

Good news, although I still think match day ticket prices are a little too high across the board.

I don't get the elitist attitude from 'some' season ticket holders that like to brand fans who can only make a few games as 'armchair' fans. Ridiculous. For some people a season ticket is not an option due to work or other commitments, or down to living away from the area.

I don't get the jealousy at these promotions either. A season ticket is still the cheapest option not to mention the other perks that come with it.

With attendances falling, everything should be done to boost match day ticket sales so I commend the club on this decision. Many people can't justify the price of a match day ticket in the current economic climate - prices have to fall in line with this.

Also, as 'not a witty name' said, I'm not a fan of the grading system. I go to watch ITFC, not the club we are playing.

I am an ST holder and don't agree with this for the record. However it does now give me the option of reviewing next season dependant on performances and pick and choose like a majority do whatever reason, work, don't live close enough etc. Coudl backfire in the medium term Mr C.

Good move clegg, a step in the right direction, but still some way to go.
Ignore the minority of season ticket holders who think they should be members of the board.
I have had a season ticket for the last 2 seasons, but won't next year as i will be at uni, and will try to go to at least several away games. The first season ticket holder to call me a fair-weather fan or whatever will need their ticket surgically removed.

I am a season ticket holder, I think this a good move, does it cover away fans as well, i hope so.

Maybe if season ticket holders get home cup tickets at a reduced price compared to non season ticket holders that would keep everyone happy.!

Anything which boosts our attendance has to be a good thing

Don't jump on the Clegg-In bandwagon yet lads, we all know he will increase the prices once the olympics are over and his pockets are lighter!
