Blues boss Paul Jewell was again full of praise for new loan signing Massimo Luongo after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Luton. The Tottenham man, who will be with the Blues for the season, impressed at Kenilworth Road, having similarly been a stand-out performer at Cambridge on Wednesday.

Jewell said: “He’s a class player. I think he found it a little bit quicker than he did on Wednesday. That’s his second game at a level he’s probably not used to.

“But I think as he gets to know us and the tempo we work at, he’ll pick up the game. You can see he’s got a lovely touch on the ball and he understands the game.”

He clearly is going to be behind this boy in the pecking order, and with Kourouma there as back up, Drury,Bullard and Stevenson all able to step in, Hyam needs to go and get a full season of first team action. Come back next summer with games and confidence.
