Bennett Set for Forest After German Trial
Bennett Set for Forest After German Trial
Sunday, 5th Aug 2012 22:18

TWTD understands that former Blues academy full-back Callum Bennett has been offered a contract by Nottingham Forest. We understand that the right-back previously spent time on trial with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

Bennett, last season’s U18s captain, turned down a one-year deal with Town when his scholarship was up at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

Previously we revealed that the former Kesgrave High School pupil, who also operates in midfield and at centre-half, had been offered terms by Sheffield Wednesday, where his former Blues academy team-mate Caolan Lavery now plays, while Aston Villa had also shown interest.

Meanwhile, Town could be amongst what's likely to be a number of Championship clubs interested in striker Dave Kitson now that he has settled his contract with Portsmouth.

Kitson, 32, is understood to be viewed as an alternative to Steve Davies with the Blues and Derby having been unable to agree a fee for the ex-Tranmere man.

At 6ft 3in tall, the former Cambridge, Reading, Stoke and Middlesbrough (loan) man would appear to very much be in the mould of the type of big striker Paul Jewell wants to add to his squad.

There is more to these things than meets the eye, and that is probably the case regarding his refusal to sign the contract offer put in front of him, but as always there are those who have opinions without all the facts. only last week several on here had an opinion on Luongo b4 he kicked a ball, the wiser ones reserved judgement until they saw what he had to offer, if sat was anything to go by he will star for us this season.

Regarding Kitson, no thanks..... i would really like to see Murphy back....coyb

Bennet out Hewitt in, not to fussed tbh, would have been nice to see a local lad come through but if he was that good would have probably played more last season. Wouldn't be surprised if Murphy doesn't end up here after all.

On paper it does seem odd that Bennett left us. But we don't know how much we offered the lad. If we offered peanuts then more fool us. But if we offered him a good deal and his agent wanted more then what can you do? Persoanlly I'm more likely to believe that we offered him peanuts.

But why do young players -who lets face it -have not achieved anything in the gam fel the need to have an agent.
