Hutchings Disappointed But Focused on Saturday
Thursday, 25th Oct 2012 14:36

Caretaker-manager Chris Hutchings says he was disappointed that boss Paul Jewell’s time at Town was brought to an end yesterday, but has his mind firmly fixed on Saturday’s home game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Hutchings said: “Obviously we when we found out about it was very, very disappointing. But we’ve got to be professional about it in preparation for the game on Saturday, as simple as that.

“Disappointed, frustrated, but things move on. That’s not being flippant about Paul because I’ve worked with Paul for 20 years and he’s become a very close friend and he’s a very good manager, but it didn’t work out.

“I’m very frustrated and the boys are frustrated. But I’ve had a meeting with them, we’ve had a chat and we’re focused on the job in hand.”

Asked what Jewell’s mood had been like when he spoke to him, the former Chelsea defender said: “Frustration. That would be about it really.

"I’m not really going to comment on it, you’ll need to speak to Paul. We’ve got a job to do now and that’s the most important thing.”

Hutchings, who watched the Owls lose 1-0 at Blackburn last night, confirmed that there are no new injuries ahead of Saturday’s game and that Daryl Murphy was merely left out of the 18 on Tuesday rather than having suffered a knock.

Hutchings is a capable and well respected coach, take it from me as have attended courses with him, fact is PJ was the manager and picked the team, tactics etc he was the boss. although it has to be said that whenever Hutchings has forayed into management he has been extremely poor which shows there is a big difference between being a coach and being a manager, when alls said and done the likelyhood is that he and most of the other back room staff will also lose their jobs very soon when the new manager comes in.

he done well at walsall! oh no they were bottom too- shouldnt be in charge and for people saying it could only be one game, well 3 pts could make all the difference at the end of the season, osman and klug would do for me as a drastic change in tactics and approach is needed, its a relegation battle saturday is it not?? its a great privilege managing itfc and he certainly hasnt earned it,what was all that talk about watching dvds in dressing room the other night, the joker can leave too please!!-if we lose saturday then do you reckon he will be in charge for brum??? another of cleggs decisions no doubt-we cant even sack a manager and his clones properly!
