Positive Approach from Hutchings
Saturday, 27th Oct 2012 09:32

Caretaker-manager Chris Hutchings emphasised his positive approach ahead of today’s home game against fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday, a match he describes as the first of many cup finals for Town.

Speaking after taking charge of his first training session on Thursday, Hutchings said: “I’ve come in and been very positive this morning.

“I told the players what I expect, what we’re going to be working on, how we’re going to go about it. They all know their jobs and now they’ve got to carry it off.”

He says the Owls will be fighting just as hard as Town as the two sides try to claim three points which will help them to pull away from the drop zone: “Nobody wants to get beaten, it doesn’t matter whether you’re in the middle of the table, you’re top of the table or bottom of the table.

“People may say that it’s a six-pointer and all those things, but we’re only a quarter of the way through the season. But every game is a big game.

“This is the first cup final of many cup finals because we’re bottom of the league. That’s what it’s about. As far as I can see, there’s only one way, and that’s going up. And that’s what we’re going to get across to the players.

“We’ve been very positive in everything that we do and that’s how it’s going to be. And the players will be very positive in what they do on Saturday.”

Hutchings says he has always had a generally upbeat approach to the game: “My glass is always half-full. Let’s be positive, that’s how we’re going to go about it.

“We keep saying we want the fans to get behind us, well, let’s give the fans something to shout about. It’s a two-way thing.

“That’s what it’s all about. We’ve got to have people all rowing in the same direction and that’s what we’ll have on Saturday.”

I wouldn't be surprised to see the new manager up in the stands watching. We normally have a new man waiting in the wings within a couple of days of the old manager leaving.

Even if I am wrong, the rumour of a new manager at the game might spur the players on to a better performance!

Spread the word everyone!

Like Hutchings approach and manner since Jewell went. Here's hoping he can get a decent performance out of them.

Let's get behind the team today - let's try to lift them, rather than vise versa!

Agree it will be interesting to see what team and formation Hutchings goes for ? Will there be any of the "Gang of Five" night revellers in the team ? Will he play 2 up front ? Will Reo Coker and Wellens be on the bench ? did he agree with his boss having Murphy on the wing ? Could Edwards be pushed up to midfield with a place for Ainsley ? Will JET play behind a front man ? Will NDaw come back in from the cold or allowed to go shopping again with his wife ? All will be revealed in few hours time. My guess is:

Henderson
Edwards Chambers Higginbottom Cresswell
JET NDaw Drury Martin
Chopra DJ Campbell

Bench: Loach, Smith, Ainsley, Scotland, Wellens, Mohsni

The events of the last few months have brought me to this site, there seem to be a 2 camps amoungst Ipswich fans those who voice discontent at the clubs postition and those who back the club at any cost. I am sure we all have one commom goal whish to see ITFC having success. I applaud the fans who remain loyal but im one of those in the camp that realise we need change not only the manager but some players as well. I dont slag anyone off for their opinions i dont see any point in abuseing Jewell Clegg etc. I always get behind what i see as effort and players trying their all. So the posters who see the club in a different way please dont refer to people of a different opinion as Whingers Moaners Cretins Morons its easy to shell out abuse hiding behind a Pc. Even the so called moaners want the best for itfc. The Manager players and staff get paid to do a job and we pay for the privilage. so lets pull together after all when they are long gone we still turn up at Portman Road.

The only way that he can say that he is going to be positive is to play the most attack minded team possible!
