McGoldrick Up for Award
Wednesday, 9th Jan 2013 13:39

New Town striker David McGoldrick has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award for December having scored five goals in four matches for his former loan club Coventry City.

Tommy Elphick from Bournemouth and Crewe’s Luke Murphy are the 25-year-old’s fellow nominees.

McGoldrick has joined the Blues on loan from Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the season with the move set to be made permanent in the summer.

Town boss Mick McCarthy could be amongst the nominees for the Championship Manager of the Month for December when they are announced tomorrow, having led the Blues to four wins - three of them away from home - one draw and one defeat during the final month of 2012.

As Mick said, we are bringing in a striker in great form. Hopefully he can score as many as Campbell did, and this lad is still only 25. Be great if we could get him on a permanent move.

Totally agree with what TractorBoy666 wrote - but I'm pretty sure that MM stated that it will become a permanent deal. But I could well be wrong.

For whatever reason Forest didn't want him ( and MM must think he can continue doing the business) a great piece of work to get an in form striker from another championship club.

I really hope he does well for us. However, Forest fans did label him David McGoaldrought!

Here's to hoping that he's nominated for February's Championship player of the month award!

McCarthy did state it will become a permanent deal, but I don't know if we can be sure until he has signed a 2/3 year contract. McGoldrick could do brilliantly on loan and then leave for another team if they offer him more money or the chance to play in the Premier League. I wish this wasn't a loan.

obviously can score goals and with his new found confidence should do better at this level than in the past! If it doesn't work its only a loan - if it does then we have the 1st option on him. Seems like its a win/win situation to me!
