Campbell Yet to Hold Talks About QPR Future
Wednesday, 9th Jan 2013 20:14

Former Blues loanee DJ Campbell says he’ll speak to QPR manager Harry Redknapp regarding his future in the next couple of weeks. At the weekend, Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that he is continuing his pursuit of the Blues' 10-goal top scorer, while Crystal Palace and Bolton are also amongst "seven or eight" Championship clubs to have enquired about the striker.

Campbell told the Fulham Chronicle that although Redknapp has spoken to him briefly, no in-depth discussions had yet taken place: “The manager pulled me once but we haven't had a conversation about my future. He just told me he's delighted I'm here.

“I need to speak to him in the next week or two and see what he has planned. A few Championship clubs have put offers on the table. I am 31 now so I have to think what's best for my family.

“I'm not closing the door on anyone, but I'm giving the gaffer and QPR the chance to keep me here.

“It will be hard to take if I'm not going to be part of his plans, but every manager is different. I have been around long enough that people know what I can do. It comes down to whether you suit a manager's ideas or not. I understand that.”

Campbell returned to Loftus Road last week and played the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw.

Meanwhile, Town legend Terry Butcher has opted not to take the vacant manager's job at Barnsley, deciding to remain with his current club Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Good plan Sherlock. Wait until the end of January when the transfer window is about to close, before asking about your future at QPR???

It won't need much of a conversation when Harry brings in 2 new strikers next week.....

A big juicy three year contract will be "best for the family". Once that's signed, he can put his slippers on and look forward to retirement. No need to perform, Town will fund the pension - à la Bullard, Bowyer et al.

Terry must be the most contented manager in Britain the way he speaks about life in the Highlands- don't think Barnsley could compare, money or no money. Maybe DJ will take note and be content with what is on offer at PR?!

Love DJ for what he did for us but can't help think that at 31 years old i hope we don't offer millions plus a lucrative 3 year deal to get him here! Plenty of goal scorers about in the divisions if we can't get him.

Anyone remember the post saying he wanted to sort his future ASAP? Maybe he is waiting to see the lay of the land.

May not be the most scenic place but Barnsley fans some of the nicest I've ever met. Remember the play-off final? Wished us the best of luck on the walk up Wembley Way - and congratulated us afterwards, saying the best team won. Now that's manners.

Rentaghost - ITFC have a close affinity to Barnsley after the play off final and are a super Club with excellent facilities next to their much improved ground. Barnsley fans are always down to earth and friendly and I for one love going there.

Hey - Barnsley , Home town of Big Mick - as well !!!

As for DJ , like most people when you leave somewhere 'we will stay in touch' 'love you all' Blah Blah , as soon as you move on thats it - I say we got great return from him but Mick has bought equally good - younger players - who will score - plus he is adding pace to the team - something we have never had in years - Thanks DJ but not too upset if you go elsewhere as we have moved on ........ HOME OF BIG MICK - BARNSLEY
