Camp Set to Complete Norwich Move
Monday, 21st Jan 2013 11:23

Nottingham Forest keeper Lee Camp looks set to complete a move to Norwich City with the 28-year-old reported to be due to undergo a medical at Carrow Road today.

The Blues are understood to have spoken to the Northern Ireland international at the start of last week but he subsequently looked at other options with only a deal until the end of the season on offer at Portman Road.

Camp was made available on a free transfer by new Forest boss Alex McLeish having failed to agree a new contract at the City Ground with his current terms up in June.

I don't think the ‘if Forest let him go, he can't be that good' philosophy really works… Happens in football all the time, someone doesn't fit in/looses form, they go somewhere else and they get better or rediscover form… DJ Campbell anyone. Football is a fickle business these days, loyalty is a very rare commodity. However, this seems to me to be more about money and the accolade of playing for a Premiership team (if he does indeed signs for NCFC). Anyway we all know how chasing the Prem dream works out for some goalies, don't we Mr R. Wright — wasted talent and another ‘If only he'd...' moment. Still, he's not our player, media talk is always speculative and I think we'll have other irons in the fire, sure Mick knows a fair few keepers who'll want to come to Town, if he's even looking for one still.

Shame. A good keeper and in my opinion better than Loach, who yet again demonstrated on Saturday that he a) can't kick b) can't command / control the penalty area. We need a new GK, so hopefully MM has another target in mind. Both Loach and ALB are decent shot-stoppers, but if we are to progress we need better.

It used to make me smile (wrongly, I know) when the SBR lower woof whistled him when in goal at our end. Not concerned that he didnt come here personally, think Scott Loach could do ok if he sorted his kicking and distribution out.out.

No doubt About Naarwich will be making a great deal of their "coup over local rivals, Ipswich" thereby failing to notice the irony of the situation.

What other PL club would regard this situation (signing of Camp) as a coup over a struggling Championship Club?

This just further underlines their innate subliminal acceptance that they are the smaller club in East Anglia and that they spend their lives trying to "out do" Ipswich Town FC , usually taking every given opportunity to "big" themselves through their locally, and transparently biased TV networks in an attempt to redress the natural order of things ie ncfc will always live in or shadow , no matter what divison they play in.

Would love to see Westwood here to push Loach for the GK spot. Always rated him - he kept Cov City in Championship single-handedly for a few seasons

I dont think Westwood would "push Loach", he walk into the 1st team over him. No comparison in my book. Westwood is the GK for us to go for, definitely!

I cant see the point in norwich signing camp- they have got more than enough decent gk's, and I can't see him being first choice keeper for them. Why doesnt he move to a club which actually need a gk? If Norwich do sign him, it really is a pointless signing.

"I don't think the ‘if Forest let him go, he can't be that good' philosophy really works".....I'm commenting from a position of seeing him play most weeks. I wouldn't say he's been deliberately playing sub par because he didn't get him premiership move in 2011 but he hasn't been the same keeper since the rejected Swasea offers. Plus in this case Forest have let him go without having an equivalent replacement. I guess the only way to view this is that he either wasn't pullinghis weight or he's a disruptive influence. Either way the club decided to ship him out now and not in June. You already have a good keeper in Loach so maybe Camp was an unnecessary "luxury".

This means Norwich have a surplus of keepers. How about we sign one of them - Rudd or Bunn would do nicely. We shouldn't be too proud to take players from the Budgies, as long as it strengthens our squad.

if true this is a shame as camp is a far better keeper than loach. but at the end of the day if he prefers to sit on the bench at norwich rather than be no1 elsewhere then thats his choice. im not at all sure that we only offered a deal to the end of the season, sounds as if that incorrect information unless it was with a view to a permanent deal. but if he signs for norwich then lets just move on to the next target. we def need a new keeper. once again on sat loach failed to command his area, and his kicking was shocking, so unless he improves considerably we need a new no1 keeper.

Why criticize him, Premier league, Premier money, virtually safe despite form and a side ambitious enough to bid £5m for Hooper.
What's he got to look forward to here looking at the dross served up in last two home games.
Perhaps if he were a loan player we would have got him.
Another nearly signed him!!

Lucky escape based on the times I've seen him for different clubs. If we are going to bring a keeper in then he's got to be consistently better than what we have & he is not. Happy that he's gone up the road but can't see how he'd take over longer term from Ruddy who is a decent keeper & has saved them from losing many a game in recent seasons. Scott Loach is a much better keeper.

I personally am looking forward to walking around Norwich and seeing all the replica goalkeeper shirts with CAMP written on the back....

Joking apart, how many of you knocking him as a Goalie would have been kissing his arse if he'd signed for us?

He was absolutely shocking when Forest came down here and was one fo the main reasons we won the game.

If he's willing to spend his time sitting on the bench for that lot up the road then good riddence.

Peter Shilton he aint!!

Shame as he's a decent keeper, and would rather see him doing a job for us than the bird brains. I think Loach will come good but wouldn't be adverse to us signing Westwood. COYBs!
