Nouble: Goals Will Come Friday, 15th Mar 2013 06:00
Town’s lack of goals — they are the lowest-scoring team in the Championship — is not a great cause for concern to Frank Nouble.
The striker has yet to find the net since arriving from Wolves in January but he is in good company with the team managing just 35 goals from their 37 league games so far and only two from their last seven matches.
Nouble said: “I don’t think it’s a major worry right now. Obviously, goals are important but it’s more about consolidating our position in the league and making sure we stay up.
“At least we’re not leaking many and I think the goals will come. We have a lot of players who are capable of putting the ball in the back of the net. I’m not worried about it at all.
“We’re all looking at the table and whether our rivals are winning or losing but I think we are still in a good position because our destiny is still in our own hands.
“We’ve got a lot of home games coming up as well and we must make sure we take advantage of that. I’m not worried by our position and I don’t think the other boys are worried. We know we can control what we are doing. If we play well against Bolton on Saturday we will win.”
Nouble also insists there is no danger of fifth-bottom Town cracking under the pressure as they strive to protect their Championship status.
He added: “Pressure builds up if you let it and if you allow yourself to be affected. The manager has done well for the players in terms of our mind-set. You can say we are in trouble but we can get out of it.
“We are doing well and we need everyone to stay level-headed. We just need to do what we are best at and that’s playing football.
“You can play well and still not get a result but mentally we are strong. We should have won at Peterborough but because we only drew it didn’t mean we were on a downer this week in training.
“All week the boys have been buzzing and looking forward to the game against Bolton. We’re at home and looking forward to picking up three points. We don’t fear sides but of course there are a few nerves, which is normal. It’s what we are paid to do.”

Goals will come when! have been saying that for the last three months without goals we cant win games to keep us up without goals we will most likely go down ,but don't worry!

A balance should be struck between a healthy anxiety which motivates and too much anxiety which constrains performance. To say you are not worried at all in the current circumstances is going too far the other way.
Why do these faceless Ipswich Town PR people fill young players like Frank Nouble with such stupid things to say, if you have forwards not scoring, your team draw or lose simple. As one of the current group of forwards, just face up to the fact you should be worried sick if your not scoring. These PR morons have never played the game, and take the supporters as idiots, and tell the players what to say week after week.
I think nouble is right the goals will come. we have good strikers in nouble chopra mcgoldrick murphy. thse players can score at this level and are all good players.next season we will have taylor too and he can play right mid as well and cause problems. Lets just get behind the lads and of course goals will follow we scored 4 against m'boro so we are capable
It's far from a recent problem though, as I think Ipswich have struggled to score for several years due to a succession of striker flops as far back as Kevin Lisbie. We did score a few more under Jewell, but at the price of a leaky defence.
To be fair to our current strikers, our midfield create few opportunities for them and hardly ever score themselves. From memory Martin, Hyam, N'Daw and Edwards have scored 2 goals between them all season!
Lets get some perspective here. We have stopped the leaking of goals, that was the first thing that had to happen. We can now build and start scoring. No point in scoring 3 goals a game if you let 4 in. I have faith and I believe next year will be much better then we have seen for a long time now. COYB.
I agree with KesgraveBlue57. There has been very little thought in this statement. If we ain't scoring Frank we ain't gonna consolidate. Maybe the players should start to worry a bit.

Thats the funniest thing i read for ages....how on earth can we stay up without goals...
i have faith in young Frank, as a youngster at Chelsea he was seen as the next Didier Drogba due to his unbelievable pace and strength and the ability to score from any whee on the pitch. i feel that if he gest a chance in the starting lineup he will produce magic and scoe 20+ goals next season.
Once again ChrisMakin2012 you show your desire to put players who have done nothing wrong down, why you think that is a constructive thing to do I will never know
Just to keep the "we should have kept DJ Campbell / he only scored penalties" debate going.
In the 17 (league) matches he was at the club. We won or drew 9 and lost 8.
Since leaving us we have won or drew 7 and lost 4.
I think this clearly shows that MM and TC are building from the back. Concentrating on defending as a team rather than playing expansive, free flowing football that resulted in us getting stuffed week in and week out.
When Mr Jewell was the manager I was always very critical of our defence and the number of goals we leaked. I was always an advocate of building from the back. However things can be taken too far and a goal every now and then is traditional.
It's amazing how he's been here 2 seconds and spouts out something like this! - another stat over 400+ minutes without an away goal - I think that puts pressure on us to win at home and unfortunately we will not do that every home game whilst the goal glut away continues.
It is a huge worry Frank. Especially as most supporters were ultra-surprised by the release of Jason Scotland- who has gone on to score goals for fun at our rivals Barnsley. Hope it isn't a decision that MM looks back on and says "Oh dear" at the end of the season. Nathan Ellington was understandable. The guy had lost his confidence and not scored in over 2 years...but Jason Scotland? Why was he not sent out on a 3-month loan with optional recall clause? Just don't get it. The club has to put itself before the players or we will go down.
