Town’s U13s lost 5-0 to Espanyol in the second and final game of their trip to Barcelona. The home side fielded a team a year older than the young Blues, who were 4-0 down at half-time.

Yesterday, the Town boys lost 4-1 to Barcelona at their La Masia training ground.

The four-day trip, the team fly home tomorrow, has been funded by ex-Blue Kieron Dyer, whose son Kie is a member of the squad, Chelmsford Plastic Warehouse, Elite Renewables, WS Finance Consultants Ltd and Suffolk New College.

TWTD is sponsoring the matchball for the academy showcase at Portman Road on Wednesday 1st May when an U15 side will take on Tottenham under floodlights.

Unlucky boys but should have been a fantastic experience for them. I wonder if there are plans for similar trips for other age groups.

Why this a good experience , I remember as a 13 year old getting turned over by an ugly women ,hardly made me want to go near one again. Although having said that ,on occasions at 2am ive let my guard down.

Obviously a different standard when i played with my local team in Holland every year between u10's and u18's but the European age groups always meant we were playing against lads who were a year older. Although it was tough i always felt we improved as a result so hopefully the U13'swill find this trip a great help and one they can use to aid their development.

As a side note, our team also played Feyenoord youth twice, a team which contained 3 lads who are now on the books as first team players there! We only lost 7-0 on aggregate over the 2 games haha!

I am sure a great experience for all concerned - As long as the coaches got a bit of RnR on Las Ramblas - and didnt get mugged - an all round good trip I am sure

2 thumpings not good.. this is where our coaches need to work.. even at that age we should show arrogance, and not be second to so called big named clubs
