Town Again Linked With Camp Saturday, 18th May 2013 10:41
Town are again being linked with Northern Ireland international keeper Lee Camp. The 28-year-old held talks with the Blues in January but eventually joined Norwich City on a deal until the end of the season.
Blues boss Mick McCarthy is likely to be looking for at least one goalkeeper during the summer with Arran Lee-Barrett and Jason Brown having been released. Scott Loach is currently Town’s only senior glovesman.
Former Forest and Derby man Camp, who was also only offered a short-term deal by the Blues in January, has made only one start and two sub appearances since moving to Carrow Road, but has said he would consider staying on if extended terms were on offer.
Despite admitting he’d prefer to be playing more regularly, he said: "If circumstances are right and it ticked all the boxes it's something I'd look at.”

Not sure why I was down marked by people for stating my view on Camp. This player prior to his going on loan made comments that led me to believe he is an arrogant individual who appears to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder. From first hand viewing of him as a player, he strikes me as nothing special, and certainly no better than Loach ( whom I actually have doubts about as a regualr number 1 GK anyway). Camp was very much in our sights - yet chose to join scum in the knowledge that he would be a bench warmer, but would get higher wages. That for me says all I need to know about the so called "qualities" of Mr Camp.
He's no better than we currently have , yet he thinks he is better than he is. IMO he would a rotten apple in the squad and for his last minute jump to scum for the sake of his bank balance , would Never be accepted t this Club.
I suggest / hope MM has set his sights much higher than the likes of Camp. A certain GK by the name of Westwood would be a definate number 1 at this Club. Camp can rot on sccums bench as far as I'm concerned.
hs32 and jas1972; When I said that Camp 'ticked all the boxes' I was referring to his ability to provides good experienced back-up to Loach at Championship level. At no point was I suggesting that he (or Loach for that matter) is of the same standard as any of the following at their peak: Ken Hancock, Paul Cooper, Richard Wright or Kelvin Davies.
It does leave a bad taste knowing he went to Nodge I must admit, yes they're in the Prem and I didn't blame him, but to then drift down the road to us feels like sloppy seconds now..
So many good keepers out there, or solid keepers anyway.....the Polish lad in goal for Posh is as good if not better than Camp....plenty more..
bluelodgeblue - ..... Umm ... that's why he is no longer at Forest and 3rd choice at Norwich then - because he's so good ........ I think it's a question of who actually does 'understand' the professional game - and of course, needs to GROW UP !.
I'd gonfor Henderson too as he would offer good competition to Loach and is unlikely to get much at West Ham and maybe this time with no 24 hour recall. There's plenty of bench warmers out there so hope MM can get good keeper this time.
I personally dont care about the Norwich link. However as a season ticket holder in the lower North for many years i can confirm that there are many who would! - the same people who got on the back of Marshall and jeered his every mistake from the off, almost willing him to fail! To be fair, Henderson received some similar treatment at the start just because he chose West Ham over Town. Agree with other posters, we need to be solid and united from the KO of the first match to stand a chance. For that reason, i dont think its the tight move
Mathieandmarshall sadly you are probley right pity as we need to bring in a decent keeper or two Camp no transfer fee, so no brainer. The so called fans who would jeer Camp are the same fans will expect us to compete with the clubs with a much bigger budget and will be first to moan if we cant. It's not that we aint got money we now can only spend to our reletively low budget.Free agents, such as Camp might give us half a chance with the Blackburns of this world. We seem to have already lost out on one of our targets to them.
