Town Draw Stevenage in Capital One Cup Monday, 17th Jun 2013 09:30 Town have drawn League One Stevenage away in the first round of the Capital One Cup.
The teams have not previously met in a competitive fixture, although they faced one another in a pre-season friendly in the summer of 2007 when the then-Conference side won 3-0.
Blues central defender Tommy Smith had a spell on loan with Stevenage in 2008, making 15 Conference appearances.
The tie will be played in the week commencing 5th August. The draw was seeded based on the final league positions during the 2012/13 season and split on a north-south basis.
Last season’s two highest-placed relegated Premier League sides have received byes through to round two in the case of Reading and round three for Wigan.
The 2013/14 league fixtures are released on Wednesday at 9am when as usual they will be available on TWTD.

Not surprised to see that we are away for this. However, I do believe that Stevenage will provide to be a stern test. Lets hope it can be a town victory and we can enjoy a good cup run - we are due one!!

Couldn't have asked for a better midweek game seeing as I work in Hitchin which is less than 10miles away :-)

Itfctrent- we got to the semi final in this competition a few years ago. If we had got to the final that year Paul Jewell might have still been given more time ... Stevenage away would have been a league not a cup fixture.

Great draw, that will be my 79th league team to have visited and hopefully Yeovil will make it upto 80.

Only 4 miles from my home in Hitchin, we'll get 1200 seats in the away stand behind one of the goals plus another 300 if required in a side stand. COYB!

An early banana skin to be avoided, saw them a few times last season and has to be said very ordinary.
