Shock Defeat for Edwards's Soca Warriors
Saturday, 13th Jul 2013 10:21

Carlos Edwards’s Trinidad and Tobago suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Haiti in their second group game at the Gold Cup in Miami overnight. Jean-Eudes Maurice netted the goals in the 16th and 53rd minutes.

In order to qualify for the next stage, the table-propping Soca Warriors need to win their final game against group leaders Honduras in Houston on Monday and hope that results elsewhere go their way.

Blues skipper Edwards, who played the full 90 minutes and won his 86th full cap, will join up with the Blues squad once they are eliminated.

No offence to Edwards or to Trinidad, but I can't say I'll be disappointed if they do suffer early elimination. Quite keen to see Carlos back in Suffolk training with his new team mates.

I suspect there will be a few people looking at the betting patterns on that one.

this result not such a shock, both teams have been ropey of late.. Edwards would have benefited more by playing for us at Chippenham

Not a shock result at all. It is a much of a shock as if France would lose to Serbia.

Cannot see where Carlos will fit into our midfield this season? Good back up though!

Have to admit I'm no expert on the CONCACAF Gold Cup, just going by what the media out there said about the game: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/goldcup/story/trinidad-and-tobago-0-2-haiti-g
