Town's Barnsley Clash on Sky
Thursday, 29th Aug 2013 15:05

Town's home game against Barnsley has moved to Friday 1st November with a 7.45pm kick-off and will be shown live on Sky. The match was originally scheduled for the following day.

Barnsley's visit to Portman Road will see striker Jason Scotland face his old club.

The game will be the Blues' first covered live by Sky since the Cardiff City home fixture last October.

Town and the Tykes were last in Sky action back in December 2011 when the Blues staged an extraordinary turnaround to win 5-3 having been 2-0 down at half-time.

I just cant believe that Leeds have been on 3 games out of 4 I think it is, already this season? We're lucky if we get on Sky once a year!!

Yay! we're on Sky! The corporation that's money completely ruined English football and destroyed our club.

I put something about this on the forum last week. We were the only championship team out of the full 24, not scheduled to make an appearance. Better late than never |I suppose. . . .

Leeds were the top team with 4 appearances. Why??

Glad we're finally on TV, i was just hoping it was an away game which no one gives a fuss about. Will be good to see about 15k attendance with 50 Barnsley fans, but as long as we win and don't embarrass ourselves on TV like the Cardiff game i'll be happy

Your dead right ManningtreeBlue! This is the only time I shall get to see the Town but in my opinion we shoud tell them to stuff it. I am in the process of cancelling my subsciption to Sky Sports anyway.

It had to happy. If you go down Ranelagh Road in Ipswich, either way; there are two bl**dy great advertising hoardings advertising football on sky sports; with an ITFC badge emblazoned on both of them. They had to put us on really or we could have sued under the trades description act. Ha Ha. I too think that Sky have ruined the game, but hey; what do you do???? COYB

I think Sky are contractually bound to show at least one home game from every championship club so we were always going to be on. Odd game to broadcast and why the need to move it to Friday rather than their usual 17:20 on Saturday? Actually it's probably because Leeds are on that day!

This news must have pleased the stay away arm chair town fans, at least you be able to watch them once this season and pass judgement on how good or bad the team are, better than just listening to games on the radio..

blue_moon09 - if every town fan could watch them play every home game then they would, but due to either monetary or geographical issues or just not being able to go, they can't. You need to get it into your head that everyone isn't as fortunate as you and cannot attend matches every other Saturday or so. I myself cannot afford to go every week. Your arrogance doubled with your unbelievable ignorance on this matter completely dumbfounds me.

I despair! How can this be good news? Nobody really cares about Friday night games on Sky; even those with an interest. Precious few Barnsley fans will pitch up and the task of selling this to relatively uncommitted Ipswich followers in the greater part of Suffolk will be thankless. Portman Road will be a graveyard.

Ok it's fine for those fans who cannot get to PR on a regular basis. A TV game is a bonus. But those who do attend regularly are inconvenienced yet again. Championship games on TV should be shown on Saturday lunchtimes or early evenings only. Friday, Sunday or Monday night games should be left to the Premiership.
