Hunt Training With Town
Wednesday, 25th Sep 2013 11:50

TWTD understands that former Wolves winger Stephen Hunt is spending this week training with Town at Playford Road. Hunt, 32, is a free agent having left Molineux in the summer.

Ireland international Hunt is a player Mick McCarthy was interested in signing early in the summer, but we understand that the midfielder is currently only with the Blues to keep fit, a move to Blackpool recently having broken down due to his wage demands.

McCarthy took Hunt to Molineux from Hull City for £3 million in August 2010 and he was a regular in his side for the next two seasons.

The ex-Crystal Palace, Brentford and Reading man missed much of last season due to calf and hernia problems before returning to action in March but couldn’t prevent his former club from plummeting into League One.

Earlier today, Hunt's former Wolves team-mate Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was again linked with a move to Portman Road.

I may be amongst the minority here but I can see no sense in encouraging a player to train with our lads, if he has and we have no intention to sign him. Training should be about get match fit and practising plays, moves, strategy, set pieces and generally getting the team to gel even more. How can they do that when a player trains with the lads and will have no input into our games. If he reduces his silly wage demands than sign up and let him train.

"So we've moved on from taking Sunderlands cast offs to wolves now "

Well, no.
It's a completely different situation: Wolves have been relegated to League one with players who were once comfortable in the Premiership. These are first-teamers who are available for NO fee. We have their previous manager who signed them, so we have extra pulling power to get them.
With Sunderland, we were signing fringe players, if at all. Keane couldn't attract anyone else, because he possesses the same character as a spoilt 8-year-old.

So we are merely 'taking advantage' of a situation. A few teams have benefitted from doing the same to us (Charlton?), so this is the CORRECT way to act in the transfer market.

You may get marked down...this kind of stuff is bleeding obvious to most people. We can't all have a working brain though...eh Baldrick?!
[sigh]

Well, if we got drawn against Chelsea in the cup again, we'd at least have Cech worried.

Definition of insanity doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. Same Wolves manager same x Wolves/Britol City players we will be looking at Div1 !!

We don't want to be paying over the odds (wages) for an injury prone 32 year old.

Think we have been down this road before.
I think that Mick could get more out of these type of players than previous incumbents;thats if he doesn't take the Eire job,as I see that his odds have shortened.Lets face it Evans actually isn't giving him much support, which is probably why he has got this untidy looking bloke on trial.

No one is going to be offering Hunt the sort of money he is apparently asking for so he needs a reality check if he is going to get fixed up with a club!

No more 30 + players for me, as mentioned past his best.

Hunt and Ebanks Blake would be healthy acquisitions, though not for our wage bill......

Who is this guy Robinson? is it rumor or have we signed him on loan? Surely not John Robinson...must be 40 by now and thought he'd retired a few years back?
