Taylor Makes Fourth Loan Appearance
Taylor Makes Fourth Loan Appearance
Saturday, 12th Oct 2013 19:25

On-loan striker Paul Taylor played the first 55 minutes of Peterborough’s 1-0 victory away at Port Vale this afternoon.

The 26-year-old, who was making his third start in eight days, is back at London Road until November 2nd in order to improve his match fitness.

Former Town loanee Tyrone Barnett netted Posh’s winner — his seventh goal of the season — with four minutes of scheduled time remaining.

Taylor has now made four appearances during his loan spell, with Darren Ferguson’s side in action next on Saturday at home to Shrewsbury.

Karlosfandangal...i dont think he will replace anyone, i just dont think for some reason he is MM's plans... I want to be wrong on that, just feel he will be moving on for a cut price fee...coyb

I'd like to see him replace Hyam for a couple of games to see if he can make something happen. Let Him push up the midfield and let Skuse play a holding role on his own. As our wingers are not playing too wide they can also contribute. This could leave Taylor free to cause a few problems, something our midfield isn't really doing at the moment.

hyam provides a lot more proyection the the defence than skuse does who is built like a string bean and not the greatest at tackling.
why change a team thats on target for challenging for play offs which would be a great achievement considering the lasy few years
You cant just drop players who have been playing well for a man who has been out injured and half of you are only rating taylor as quality as he cost a loy of money snd have probably on seen him play once or twice

Itfc12345 do you actually go to games?? If so your analysis of skuse is somewhat misguided and thats being polite, however I guess thats just your opinion, which your entitled to have. Skuse has been a very shrewd signing and does the same job as hyam in midfield but is slightly better than hyam in every department and if you think skuse cant tackle then you must be watching a different game to me

Jimmy 86 with you on the Skuse front he is a cracking player! As for Taylor, agree with some others we can't just drop others to fit him in. I think at first he needs to be used as a super sub, we haven't actually got anyone to bring on who can fundamentally change games, Taylor I think can.. Who knows what's in MM plans so prob best to wait and see rather than "assuming" he isn't a fan of taylor!

Think my comment might have come across as though i didnt rate skuse/preffered hyam
think he has been brilliant and his passing is clearly the best in the team by a long way however is only real weakness is what hyam is good at, personally think they complement each other well and was saying that dropping one of our players who were playing well would be a mistake @jimm86

in other words hyam does his work when the other team have the ball and skuse does when we have it.
decent pairing that should't be broken up for taylor

Itcf12345 - I want to agree with you, and half of me does. My only problem, and only my opinion, Skuse and Hyam are basically the same player. Hyam will be top class in a few years but currently Skuse's experience puts him ahead of Hyam. In my mind a 442 should have one holding midfielder and one pressing forward / creating. Taylor does that. Really hard to break up Skuse and Hyam but think the team would benefit if Taylor had some minutes alongside Skuse - perhaps as a sub for Hyam to start.

Tractor bhoy agree like I said a gr8 super sub... Especially in games when we are not attacking enough.. I thin Hyam and skuse are prob better at seeing out tight games when we have a small lead though

If he performs well for posh bangs in a few goals i may agree with you or for murphy maybe and go 4 5 1
if he dont set the world on fire at peterborough i hardly think he'll do it it here.

And the fact hes only playing 55 mins suggests hes still not fit presumably

Jimmy86 added 17:40 - Oct 13
Yep itfc12345 i agree with your other posts and i think the reason why hyam has not been playing that great is the fact he is being asked to do a job he is not comfortable or capable of doing, which is be our attacking and creative midfielder alongside skuse. Taylor is class in my opinion and along with mcgoldrick is a game changer and its whether mick would operate a system fluid enough to accomodate taylor.

Looking like a good decision to send him on loan. Can't see him starting for us and all these games must surely be helping his fitness and match fitness. Still not convince Taylor is going to be a striker for us though.

Went to the Posh game at Port Vale and to be honest Taylor didn't look that good even at that level. Did the odd bit of decent stuff but a lot of very mediocre as well. As much as I hope he turns out to be what we need I can't see it . He had 90mins last week so not sure why he only had 55 mins yesterday. Maybe because he wasn't on his game but he did get a kick on his foot in the first half that seemed to trouble him for a while.

I suppose you could think of the loan as a trial for us if he performs well enough to warrant a place in our team then im sure mick will give him one

Taylor will be on his way, later if not sooner. I don't think Mick is impressed with everything he brings to the table, and I'm not just talking about on the pitch.

less booze, more game minutes, gives greater fitness

Steve ITFC Sweden - i totally agree with you, as i said some months ago, his face doesn't fit - his injury is just an excuse not to play him, and this fitness business is another smoke screen - MM wil release him when he's match fit

To put it simply I think we just need some pace in midfield - Taylor.
