O'Neill and Keane Sign Contracts Tuesday, 5th Nov 2013 20:53 The FAI have confirmed that Martin O’Neill and former Blues boss Roy Keane have put pen to paper on their contracts as the manager and assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland. The duo are understood to have agreed two-year initial deals.
“[The FAI] can confirm that both contracts have been signed. Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane will be Ireland's new manager and assistant manager,” a tweet announced.
Mick McCarthy had been tipped to return to the job he occupied between 1996 and 2002 but the FAI made no approach regarding the current Town manager.

Agreed Souper Jim also think that many comments are not from Town fans, perhaps Budgies in disguise!!!

Congratulations to the happy couple! In that photo, have they just finished their vows and been told that the surprise honeymoon is at the Novotel in Ipswich? They both do look rather excited.

Especially as Mick McCarthy will be on duty as chef for the duration of their stay!

There wil be no time for any Irish tactical talks O'neal will be full time sorting out all the players Keane has upset with his usual pig-ignorant (sorry to all pigs that was uncalled for) style of handling people that is if they have'nt all walked out like he did.

Say what you like about keane but atleast when he was at ipswich their was some interest in the club, Sky and the BBC were always at the training ground when Keane was here and he put us back in the spotlight, How often do you see Sky and the BBC at the training ground now?? NEVER cause nobody gives a toss about us now he aint here, i bumped into him a couple of times over the local park in woodbridge near where he lived and he is a top bloke, He was gutted it didnt work for him at ipswich, Goodluck with Ireland keano, Top bloke!!

If I am a muppet for suggesting that MMs Neanderthal football is inferior to Mowbrays then I will take it Bluelady et al. Actually being holistic I would suggest that dire long ball football and playing to the 'like what I know and know what I bloody well like' stereotype instead of answering straight questions in an intelligent way pretty much sums up much of what holds English football back. Unfortunately as a youth coach I experience it from similarly ill informed prats most weekends much to my dismay. But feel free to question my right to be a fan with smart remarks from afar.

Kalypso/Kalamity if that's the case (and I very much doubt it) you wouldn't be against putting 3 or 4 of your miserable pounds towards a good charitable cause in Ipswich, right?

Ormey, what planet are you living on? By your logic you would be delighted if Keane were still in charge, still spending Marcus's millions and Town playing in League 1. Just as long as good old Sky and the BBC were following clown Keane. Sometimes I think people should really think about what they post to save themselves the embarrasment of looking really stupid!

Worcester - not sure you have grasped the meaning of holistic - you seem to have a limited view of MM....

I don't usually blog but I really have to reply to some of the offensive crap around our manager MM. I have seen town 3 times this season and the football is not the prettiest but at least we have a method and structure that means we will win more than we lose. Compared to RK, MM is a great manager. In terms of Keane and Ireland well to be frank they are welcome to him but my bet is he falls out of love with Martin O'Neill in less than one year. RK is the most self opinionated di**h**d I have ever had the privilege to listen too. Fortunately I have a volume control and usually it goes off when that idiot is commenting.

I'm not going to get drawn into a pointless spat here but I do object to the abuse some of the more reasoned MM doubters get on here. I also do understand the term holistic though I agree Bluelady that I have a narrow view of Mick McCarthy. Yes he is a better Manager than Keane or Jewell and yes he kept us up last year. However, his brand of football is and always will be negative and as with Duncan many moons ago I will never accept this is the correct way to play. Plus there is no evidence that others might have done it with more style. He has an overinflated ego despite only limited managerial success and he represents the past. Let's just see the development of the likes of Hewitt, Taylor, Marriot et all under this regime as opposed to Mings (i.e. small skillful players as opposed to big ones - though that's no criticism of Mings as I am sure he is a great prospect). And as for Nouble I think his perseverance with him just about sums it up. Football is all about opinions and this is just mine. Doesn't mean I am not a fan - just not a fan of MM.
