McCarthy Nominated for Manager of the Month
Thursday, 9th Jan 2014 08:58

Town boss Mick McCarthy has been nominated for the December Manager of the Month award, the Blues having won three and drawn three as they climbed into the top six in 2013's final month.

The other nominees are Birmingham boss Lee Clark, Steve McClaren at Derby and Nottingham Forest’s Billy Davies. The winner will be announced on Friday live on Sky Sports News.

McCarthy was previously nominated for the December 2012 award but lost out to Hull City manager Steve Bruce.

The last time a Town boss was named Manager of the Month was back in 2004 when Joe Royle picked up the award for November.

Since then Royle, Jim Magilton, Roy Keane and McCarthy have all been nominated but without winning.

McClaren will get it.
Anyone hear BFJ on Talksport yesterday bigging up our current form.
Top man Joe, who never got the credit he deserved whilst here. As is oft the case, he wasnt fully appreciated until he'd gone.

Did Roy Keane REALLY get nominated for Manager of the Month ?? Sadly any good times we had with him are so hard to remember, hidden amid the negative stuff that is so easily brought to mind.

Congratulations Steve McClaren!

RaymondovicBlue, my thoughts exactly. I really cannot remember a time when we were out the bottom half under Keane. I think Jewell's secnd season we were top 6 in August. Didn't we beat Cardiff?

Got to say, I'm not in favour of these shop window awards, not that Mick doesn't deserve it, I think it gives clubs that are not doing so well ideas in his direction.

I really think derby are punching above there weight to be honest. I can't see them keeping this form until the end of the season

Steve Mclaren definitely deserves this award, especially as Derby are playing better football than us and have had better results.A shoo in!
Congrats though to MM for getting nomination for second time,as think the last three incumbents have only managed one nomination each.
