Tunnicliffe at Fulham
Friday, 31st Jan 2014 09:20

Loan midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe is at Fulham's training ground this morning to undergo a medical with the Cottagers having agreed a fee with Manchester United.

Having played down Fulham’s interest in Tunnicliffe yesterday, a source at the Premier League club confirmed that the move was on earlier this morning and the move looks set to go through well before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Fulham are also believed to have made a move for another Manchester United youngster Larnell Cole. Cottagers manager René Meulensteen knows both players well from his time as assistant boss at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Tunnicliffe has been a regular in the Town side since joining on loan in August, making 24 starts and five sub appearances. He extended his spell until the end of the season earlier this month.

Losing the 21-year-old former England U17 international will be a blow for the Blues, although they are already believed to be talking to a potential replacement, Leeds midfielder Paul Green.

Meanwhile, Wolves striker Kevin Doyle, reportedly the subject of a rebuffed Town bid earlier in the week, continues to be linked with a loan move to Middlesbrough, along with his former club Reading, while QPR are said to have joined the chase. Rangers are in need of a striker having lost Charlie Austin for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

Midlands sources are now linking the Blues with another Wolves striker, Iceland international Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson, who Town were keen on prior to his move to Molineux during Terry Connor’s brief spell as manager in 2012 following Mick McCarthy’s sacking.

Sigurdarson, 22, has made 21 appearances for Wolves this season — the most recent last month - but the former Lillestrøm man has said he wants to leave the League One club.

Swansea, linked with a move for Town’s David McGoldrick last night, are now reported to have made a £2.5 million bid for Leicester striker Jeffrey Schlupp, perhaps reducing the chances of an approach for the Town top scorer.

How about a swoop for Wes Hoolahan. He wants out of Carrow Road?

(Now I wonder if anyone has scored -50 before?)

Town need to act fast as Manu Frimpong is touted as being on his way to Barnsley on Loan. He would do a fantastic job here and MM knows the player. Pace Power and Ability. Get him in asap

Fine with that. Now get us someone who can create a bit, drive into the box and get us another 7 or 8 goals before the season ends.

Thanks for all your hard work Ryan and I wish you all the best for the future. I do think there should be a rule against clubs selling players they have out on loan or at least some form of repayment of some of the loan fees ad compensation for the club it leaves in bother

When I spoke to him, he said he would never leave United and was keen to stay and get into their team. Good luck to him, nice lad. Onwards and upwards for us.

agree with others not too bothered really-i cant see him making the grade at old trafford and would prefer a creative midfielder
so many people on here agree that we need a creative midfileder but we are not being linked with one.
i think mick feels that that the football he wants to play does not require a creative midfield player

Hasn't done enough for me, if anything! I've heard a few posters go on about what he does when we haven't got the ball but I'm sure we didn't get him on loan for that!
Sure we can get a similar player who'll do a better job.

As for a Premiership club signing him up must purely be on the basis of being a Man Utd player rather than what he has done on loan!

What is it with our club, if its not the summer transfer its jan our team been taken apart. Two of our best performers this season could be going but what Im afraid of is not getting proper replacements. It would be a huge downer just as a bit of light was shining on us.I hope the club dont let the good work go down the drain as 6th spot is like a cup competition for us at this moment.Championship teams have been getting in players left right an centre this last few weeks for a playoff push or a survival bid.

FACT Mick has played him out of position most of his time here.He is a young lad that I believe didnt let us down, and clearly a better player in the middle. He could have came from utd with his head in the clouds and not given a hoot, good luck to the lad in the premier league if he gets there.

Amazed at this. Very ordinary spell with us and was starting to doubt whether he was championship standard! Horses for courses i guess and with better players around him he may blossom, but id be surprised.
