Williams Looks Set to Return to Palace Thursday, 27th Mar 2014 10:54 Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis appears increasingly likely to want midfielder Jonny Williams back at Selhurst Park when his one-month loan spell with the Blues is up after Saturday’s home game against Nottingham Forest.
According to various reports Pulis is set to end the 20-year-old’s time at Portman Road, although quizzed on his plans for the Welsh international the Eagles manager wouldn’t comment either way.
"I went to watch the game at Ipswich and Jonny Williams scored a great goal and played well. But I will be speaking to Ipswich about Williams before speaking to the media," he said.
Outfield players on emergency loans can’t be recalled during the first month of a spell with Williams currently due to remain wit the Blues until after this weekend.
Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that he’d like to keep Williams until the end of the season, while Williams has said he’d like to stay at Portman Road if he’s not going to play for Palace in their battle against Premier League relegation.
Football League clubs have until 5pm today to register new emergency loans, although existing deals, such as Williams’s, can still be extended to up to 93 days after that deadline.
Williams has made three starts and two sub appearances for the Blues, scoring his first Town goal in the 2-1 victory over Derby on Tuesday.

Blueboy, although it was a cracking goal against Derby, I don't think that we can expect that from him on a regular basis. That was his first senior goal in over 50 games. Obviously he is attacking and offers a better chance of assists, so for that reason I hope we retain his services. Would you go so far to praise Mccarthy for signing him in the first place? ;-)

In a short time Williams has shown just how lacking our squad is in midfield! Not much point in worrying about whether he gets recalled or not. Palace hold all the aces on this one. He is their player and they will decide!

Regular supporters have known all along what has been missing from the team...a creative midfielder, Williams has done this having been given the chance, but a fully fit McGoldrick could do the same in my opinion. MM and TC are moulding a 'real team', all fighting for one cause, dour at first, always protecting the 1 point that you start a game with, but also coaching players to higher levels. With the worry of relegation a thing of the past, a more attacking side is emerging, the threat of Murphey, a reborn Nouble and far fitter Ebanks-Blake if given good service would be a handful for any team in this league?

Langdon Blue - Absolutely - all be it for a short period of time. Has proved the point that he is the type of player we were sadly lacking - with a creative midfield any team is always going to be more entertaining, and productive. We've had a midfield that knows only how to pass sideways and backwards for far too long - unfortunately I think the 'habit' has stuck with Hyam. Let's hope he get's out of it - and fast !!

harlingblue - ...... personally can't see how you can compare Williams and McGoldrick - totally different players, but both good players in their own right, and way.

Agreed Blueboy. Hopefully McCarthy will finally be given the money that the previous two Managers were, to go out and buy some players. Mick has shown he has any eye for the right kind of player for Ipswich (aka McGoldrick, Berra, Williams). What he has done up to now on 'free transfers' is amazing.

Hate to say it but if I was Pulis, I would call him back in a flash - they need that extra quality to stay up - and he has it in bundles.

As many suggest, his time with us has provided the spark and bottle that we need..

As many suggest, his time with us has provided the spark and bottle that we need. Well done MM for bringing him on board. Please may he stay for at least the balance of the season and continue his development here.

Given where Palace are in the prem it would not be a surprise, but fair play to Tony Pulis for not talking to the press first. He doesn't need our permission, but he is doing it the right way.
