Green Still Waiting Monday, 16th Jun 2014 14:58 Former loanee Paul Green says he’s still waiting for Town to offer him a contract for the season ahead. Green, 31, is a free agent after being released by Leeds United at the end of 2013/14 having spent the final three months of the season on loan with the Blues.
“My agent has spoken to Mick [McCarthy] but no offer has been made yet,” the midfielder told the EADT.
“I have spoken to a couple of other teams but nothing is certain yet. It’s a case of wait and see, but Ipswich would definitely be up there at the top of my list."
Speaking after the final game of the season McCarthy said he was unlikely to offer deals to Green and other loanees and short-term signings until later on in the summer.

Decent player, but imo will not take us to the next level - i.e. The play-offs or an automatic promotion spot.

Well I for one am not at all surprised that he's still waiting. It's highly probable that one won't turn up at all I shouldn't wonder..

We didn't really improve when he joined so what's to say he will bring something to get us further up the table. He's had a chance and didn't give us enough.

.......... decent player, can't deny he played well in the last couple of games he played last season. Personally, I think he could do a fair job for us, and he wants to be here. All you dreamers need to get real because we will end up with a few scrag ends, and probably wait until a couple of days before the first game of the season before we even get them. As well as signing SEVERAL players to equate what we finished the season with in terms of squad strength - one BIG asset would be to play players in their rightful, and best, position - that would be a much welcome first, and certainly yield some benefit. As for superstar signings some seem to expect - it ain't going to happen - and Green is probably as good as we are likely to get to be honest and realistic. Hard Facts.

............ close season clock ticking away - and not anywhere near last seasons finishing squad strength - we ought to have been, at least, up to that - and looking to enhance further in the next 'few' weeks. That's IF we mean business next season !!!!!!!!! ............

every close season we lose 2/3 first team players and we replace them with cheaper alternatives and loans. our only chance for promotion now is luck. (or cash in on Cresswell and McGoldrick)

Hope hes waiting a long time. Did an end of season loan job but not what's required to push us on next year and go one better!

Suspect if we sign Green, it means all other options have been exhausted. If MM desperately wanted him, a deal would have been agreed. Although Green did okay, he is not the attacking, pacey midfield option we need. Too similar to other midfield players.

Why Blueboy? Have we got a game soon? There is plenty of time.

PragmaticBlue ..................... ever heard of 'the early bird catches the worm' - some of you would say there is still 'plenty of time' if there was just a week left until the first game of the season. Certainly not enough close season activity team wise for my likeing - IF INDEED ANY. FACT IS - and it's no good denying it - some supporters really do not care, as long as a ball is kicked at Portman Road, and they see their game of Football. I hate to say it - but I sit amongst some of these people - sad thing is they know NOTHING about the game anyway, and therefore happy with whatever. Eat, Sleep, and Portman Road maybe.
