Bialkowski in Friendly Action
Wednesday, 9th Jul 2014 23:34

Town target Bartosz Bialkowski played the full 90 minutes as Notts County won 4-0 away against East Midlands Counties League side Arnold Town in their opening pre-season friendly this evening. Discussions between the clubs regarding the keeper's proposed switch are understood to be ongoing.

Magpies manager Shaun Derry spoke to the press after the game but when asked whether there was anything new on Bialkowski’s situation, the League One club’s official Twitter responded: “No news.”

Former Blues striker Ronan Murray netted a 22nd minute penalty to put County in front.

I have this feeling he could be the most important signing for a very long time.

The problem with keepers, is that a poor keeper is difficult to identify. A poor keeper may kick well, do OK on crosses and not make many mistakes but he will let in goals that look unstoppable to you and me but a good keeper will save a decent proportion. a poor keeper may have a perfect game time after time and you think he's pretty good. A great keeper will win you games and you will be rating him as a match winner - and that's what I'm hoping this guy will be.

Think County are holding out for a slice of the Cressy money, well they can keep holding out!! Should give them an ultimatum & a deadline, then walk away, personally I would still like to see Sam Walker from Colchester as a young back up keeper :)

Still think we need a better quality goalkeeper, agree with flashblue, a goalkeeper can win you many points over a season. A defence operates so much better with a dominate G/K behind them.

I can't say I have seen much of either player however have to agree Suffolk n good, Sam Walker looks generally looks slightly better but sure MM and his team know better than me. Hopefully get someone who can push Gherkin as well to keep him on his toes.

Colchester start their friendly pre-season friendlies against Brantham A.F.C at Brantham this weekend. Only 5.00 to get in- why not go along and watch him: details on www. branthamathletic.co .uk

History dictates that as this is taking so long it probably won't happen.

Maybe time to walk away from this deal. I wouldn't have a problem with Mick spending 500k on a quality keeper.
