Nothing for the new full back or striker.... Or Byron Lawrence... Obviously no where near the first team!

Interesting, Parr at RB then.... bad news for Chambo!
Big_Foot_Blue added 11:44 - Jul 21
I'd argue number 14 is a regular striker number.
Big_Foot_Blue added 11:47 - Jul 21
Number 2 doesn't mean you have to play RB and number 3 doesn't mean you have to play LB. Bacary Sagna for example wore number 3 at RB for Arsenal for years.

Don't read anything into these numbers, they mean nothing bare a squad number.MM will pick his best team irrespective of numbers.COYB.

The defence is looking excellent ..still think we need an attacking /goalscoring /midfield playmaker & another striker.

Is it me or does the squad look tiny?
Big_Foot_Blue added 12:34 - Jul 21
ntoms97 The classic 5-3-2 would not have two wingers int he midfield 3, the CM would get overrun by all opponents. Classic 5-3-2 is basically two Cresswell type players at RWB and LWB with 3 CM's.

And probably: 31 Lawrence 32 Hammond 33 Wyatt 36 Sowunmi 37 Bishop 38 Crowe 39 McQueen 40 Clarke
Marcus added 13:03 - Jul 21
5-3-2 is possible for the 5 and the 2. The 3 may require signings.

Seems strange that wordsworth has been demoted to 22 would this suggest he isn't going to feature much?? Be disappointed if thats the case as he broke into the team at the back end of last season. Know squad numbers dont mean that much, but seems strange

Lots of numbers available between 12 and 18 for all those lovely future new signings! (Although I suspect no-one will wear 13)

Is Parr right or left footed ?

Some players like to keep a favourite number which could explain some of these shown .

i actually think Parr will play right back, not because of the squad numbers although that backs up what i already thought. So far in pre season he has played on the right with mings on the left. With Mings being given a low (or high depending how you view it) squad number i suspect the intention is he plays. I maybe wrong, its just a hunch i have.... what i cant work out is who drops from the back four if this is the case, i really cannot see Mick playing a 532? Neither Parr nor Mings strike me as wing backs either..... interesting Dr Watson very interesting.....

what number was big Frank last year? the number 35 almost indicates last hope salooon! it could be he likes that number though.....

I'm hoping we will see Jack Marriott # 9 next season

Seems clear to me that Hewitt and Woody demoted;but that only regularises what they were doing last year, one on loan and the other a fringe player, mainly because of injury I fear, and he is injured again already. Nice to see Marriott given a squad number but thought the other two young lads McQueen from Spurs and Ben Wyatt from ourNorfolk neighbours might have been given numbers as they both had good games last Wednesday.

A very small squad! Certainly smaller than the one which finished the season! Where are the goals coming from in midfield? Striker wise with McGoldrick injured, I remain convinced we need a new striker!

Whenever ive seen parr he's been left footed. I cant see him playing right back. I think Chambers will play there again and Hewitt will leave, he obviously doesnt rate him. If thats the case we need a new right back, its not fair to keep playing Chambers there, he gets ripped apart by nippy skillfull wingers and it makes him look poor whem hes a great centre half. For me Mick has to choose 2 from 3 but i fear he wont cus he like them all
Jeff_winger added 10:02 - Jul 22
@the beat Parr is naturally right footed but comfortable on either foot

Wouldn't read too much into the numbers. If that was the case Lahm (21), Schweinsteiger (31) and Müller (25) would have a tough time att Bayern, Mascherano (14) and Busquets (16) would find it difficult at Barcelona, Gary Cahill (24) and John Terry (26) would not play that much for Chelsea and David Silva (21) would probably spend most of hus time at Man C on the bench. The list coola go on. They are just numbers...
