Veseli's Town Career Over
Tuesday, 29th Jul 2014 22:38

Blues boss Mick McCarthy says Freddie Veseli’s loan move to Port Vale marks the end of the Swiss defender or midfielder’s Town career. The 21-year-old joined Vale on a half-season loan earlier today.

“That’s the end of his time at Town,” McCarthy confirmed. “It was the end of his time at the end of last season if someone had taken him, I’d made him available.

“Micky Adams wants him. I think we’ve done him a turn letting him go there. Let’s hope he goes there and, who knows, somebody else might want him and he might be able to progress somewhere else, and let’s hope he can because he’s a lovely young fella.”

Meanwhile, he says former Blue Owen Garvan continues to train with the Blues: “That’s all he’s doing, just training with us. There’s no change in that situation at all.”

Just goes to show how hard it is to make it as a professional player, good luck to him, I am sure he will develop into a very good player but not ready for Ipswich at the moment.

The reason McCarthy made comment in public about Veseli? Someone asked him, probably quite specifically (e.g. "Does Veseli have a future at ITFC, seeing as he's going out on loan?"). The key word here is "confirmed" (2nd para, 1st line).

I have no problem with this at all, we have ample players in both positions Veseli can operate in and let's take a deep breath...the guy hasn't featured at all and that must be because he is thought to be worse than players around him.

With very limited funds, we can not afford to carry those that are not pushing a 1st team place and his departure will free up wages, potentially, for somebody that will.

I can't believe Taylor is still at the club, it can't be long before he is out the door too, god knows what the reaction will be to that as he has actually played a handful of games.....and yes, he will most likely go for nothing, another crap investment.

Let's face it all players who are for sale have finished their careers with their current clubs. If it's not made plain by the manager then how do prospective clubs know to bid or not?

There are other articles about Freddies previous moves that may suggest there were attitude problems.

I don't think it matters how good a player is, if they don't have the right attitude they will be out.

He's only gone on loan. There is the possibility that MM has told him this to give him a kick up the arse, to get some kind of "... I'll show him" reaction.

If this really is the end of his career I'd imagine we could have come to an agreement and settled up his contract, as that may be cheaper than the contribution we're probably still paying to his wages- Port Vale don't have our budget so aren't going to take on a significant amount of his wages.

Think he was agitating for 1st team place, not just squad role, and when MM told him the pecking order Veseli didn't fancy staying in reserves. He'll serve a lower league team really well, Bury thought highly of him, and perhaps progress from there - no doubt has talent. Good Luck to him.

First ever post, so treat me gently! Maybe we should look at this from Veseli's point of view. No matter how good he could have been for us, he was way down the pecking order here and unlikely to get much first team action, barring there being an injury crisis.

If I was in Veseli's shoes, I'd want regular first team football - something that MM cannot guarantee him. Sometimes therefore you need to move on to get that! Step back to possibly step forward again in the future (if you really are good enough)! Mick could probably see this and while none of us know the true facts, maybe this isn't such a bad thing for either party!

I have mentioned on here more than once that Veseli is not good enough be to be a regular championship player. As posted by others he is way down the pecking order in our squad and it is best for all parties that he moves on. If he is that good as suggested he would not be dropping a level however I wish him all the best in his future career.

Obviously yet again not another one of Micks 'types' - once I saw it was 6 month loan I had a feeling he wouldn't be in Micks plans.

when he played at Stevenage in the cup looked like he had never played the position before about time we got rid of players that offer nothing. Tabb should go too. Its not like we don't have options

The fact that he has been available for transfer all summer (ie surplus to requirements) and is now at Port Vale (after an underwhelming spell at Bury) says it all. It has been clear to most of us that he did not have a future with us. I struggle to understand the 'disgusting decision' comment.

Who is Freddie Veseli again?

And therein lies the rub of the matter, one feels.

Veseli was so atrocious away at Stevenage, absolutely clueless (against a side who ended up bottom of their division), that I came away wondering why on earth we had signed him when we already had the much more promising young right back Elliott Hewitt.

Once Chambers was moved across to right back ahead of Hewitt, Veseli was completely redundant barring a big improvement, which it is safe to say has not happened when Mick has scouting reports from his loan spell at Bury and sees him every day in training.

Why anyone is bleating about his departure is beyond me. He had a chance to make the grade but sadly for him and us didn't manage it.

Mick sees him every day in training and

So another permanent player leaves, reducing our squad options. Assume he and others will replaced, along with the loans from last year? We are a weaker squad than last season. We haven't improved, just replaced primarily like for like. We fell short last year, so with fewer players how on earth do the club expect to challenge? Poor. Very very poor.

All is not lost JAS as I am sure loans will come in after Premier League squads have been announced. Still think Garvan is a possibility.

......... it becomes more evident as time goes on - there are people who post on here that know the game, and other quite clearly have no idea.

Equally so all too evident that some ,myself included, expect ambition, value for money, and to be treated as a valued supporter - and indeed want to see the Club continuously move forward on all fronts. After all, twelve or so seasons in the Championship represents the doldrums compared to the Club's past success.

The 'other' section of support (admitted or not, but true) expect nothing, believe everything, and are obviously satisfied with whatever is fed them, or served up.

My concern for the longer term is we seem to be having more of the latter - maybe that tells us what our Club future will be all about. I SINCERELY HOPE NOT.

The Club is not only changing - IT'S CHANGED !!

Blueboy1981 - You obviously know everything about Veseli from the two games he's played for us right? You go on about people having an idea about football but you can't even seem to grasp the basics. I'm satisfied because there is very little to actually complain about right now. I'd love to hear all of the evil that Ipswich Town is currently producing when in reality, things are better than they have been for years. Please enlighten us.

I guess that, because I do not necessarily share your opinions, I come into the category who 'clearly have no idea'. You, amongst others on here, scream your right to an opinion while continually putting down anyone who does not agree with you.

You expect ambition. What does ambition mean to you? Oh, of course, spending money we don't have, and hanging on to players we don't need.

You expect value for money. What does that mean? You're not shopping at John Lewis. The season hasn't started yet. There is as yet no cause for complaint.

You want to be treated as a valued supporter. If you are a true fan you will know that support for the club is unconditional. Supporters come in all shapes and sizes and most expect nothing in terms of treatment by the club. Of course all football clubs appreciate their supporters; after all they are potential customers.

You talk of 'other' support as if you and your acolytes are somehow superior to the rest of us. Your arrogance is truly staggering. At the end of the day there are hundreds of thousands of Ipswich followers. Some may just follow results, others may be more active. All have opinions, have varying levels of hopes and expectations, but all share a common goal, that the club will achieve success and play some decent football along the way.

But what do I know? As far as you are concerned I clearly have no idea.

J4ck22 .............. fact is some are not for enlightening, therefore not worth the effort of trying to do so.

Fact is - AMBITION is not important enough within the Club ( failure to achieve Cat 1 whilst Clubs like Derby and Brighton succeed ) is proof enough - in so being we allow Norwich to literally camp on our doorstep, and across our area in Suffolk. Equally concerning is the fact that there is not enough AMBITION amongst (an element) of Supporters - that, in itself, is why we are what we are.

Thankfully we still have some Supporters who see things somewhat differently in terms of expectation.

More bloody moaning from so called supporters. If there was a championship for winging and negativity we would win it hands down! Given the lack of resources in comparison to most clubs in the division MM is doing an excellent job in moving us forward. Lets be realistic about our position around half the division are benefitting from parachute payments and our average attendance puts us lower end of mid table
