Former Striker Whyte Dies Wednesday, 10th Sep 2014 11:08 Former striker David Whyte died yesterday aged 43, it has been announced.
Whyte joined the Blues on a short-term contract in October 1997 and played in defeats at Charlton and at home to Stockport before moving on a month later.
The Londoner was best known for his time as an Addicks player with whom he scored 35 goals in 106 games, having started his career with local side Greenwich Borough before breaking into senior football with Crystal Palace. He also had spells with Reading, Bristol Rovers and Southend.

As I recall he was one of those players who had had a good start to their career but lost there way a little by the time they came to us. We took a punt but it sadly didn't happen. Very sad. RIP. |  | |
