Elliott Hewitt was red-carded for the second time in his senior career as his loan club Colchester beat Leyton Orient 2-0 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in League One.

Hewitt was shown a straight red card with six minutes remaining for a bad challenge on Romain Vincelot and now faces a three-match ban. The full-back or midfielder was previously dismissed for handling on the line during his spell at Gillingham last season.

The 20-year-old extended his loan with Colchester for another month earlier in the week with manager Mick McCarthy expecting him to remain with the Essex side for the rest of the season.

Jack Marriott, who joined the Wales U21 international at Colchester on Tuesday, was an unused sub.

Elsewhere, Alex Henshall was left out of the Blackpool 18 as Watford came from 2-0 behind to beat the table-propping Seasiders 7-2 at Vicarage Road in the Championship.

Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth played the full game and was booked as Crawley lost 1-0 at Fleetwood in League One.

In the Vanarama North, first-year pro Omar Sowunmi was in the Lowestoft side which came from two goals down to win 3-2 at Brackley Town, the Trawlerboys' first away win at that level.

Meanwhile, in the FA Cup former Blue Jon Stead played a starring role as Bradford City beat Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Stead, 31, scored the Bantams’ first in the 41st minute with the score 2-0 to the Premier League side and assisted the third and fourth as the West Yorkshireman pulled off a famous cup shock. Another former Town striker, Billy Clarke, came on as a late sub.

Town still don’t know whether their scheduled Championship game at Fulham on Saturday 14th February will take place as planned with the Cottagers drawing 0-0 at Sunderland in their FA Cup fourth round tie today.

If Fulham win the replay they will be in fifth round action that weekend and the game with the Blues will be postponed.

Good to see the U's secure 3 much needed points. Great to see an ex Blue destroy Chelsea today with an excellent all round performance - scored one, made two - take a well earned bow - Jon Stead.

Alternatively we could look at him as our "fourth striker" (now the Sharp deal has fallen through). Hasn't done well at either of his loan clubs. So long since he's actually scored a goal. Would rather see Big Frank back than have Taylor at our club
