U21s Lose at Brentford
Tuesday, 24th Feb 2015 14:51

Jermaine Udamaga scored the only goal just before the hour mark as Town’s U21s fell to a 1-0 defeat at Brentford this afternoon.

West Brom defender Reiss Greenidge started for the Blues and had a solid game.

The 18-year-old is a 6ft 5in tall centre-half or left-back who recently spent four months on loan at Port Vale with a view to making a permanent switch but was unable to break into their first team.

Alex Henshall was the most senior player in the Town side with the winger playing 86 minutes of his first game since suffering the knee injury which limited his opportunities during his month on loan at Blackpool.

After the game he tweeted: "Good to get minutes today, knee felt good, shame about the result though! To be fair, ref had one as well, now [for] the game tonight."

Right-back Kyle Hammond, who might have won a penalty, and midfielder Kundai Benyu (pictured), who signed his first pro deal last week, were again Town’s standout performers.

Bryan Klug and David Wright were in charge of the team with U21s coach Mark Kennedy's wife due to give birth.

U21s: Crowe, Hammond, Robinson, Greenidge, Wyatt, Benyu, Guldbrandsen, McLoughlin, Patterson (Blanchfield 75), McQueen (C Smith 80), Henshall (Ramadan 86). Unused: Hayes, Emmanuel.

I know it's not purely about results but it would be good to establish a winning mentiality with our U21s if possible.

Why was Mark Kennedy's wife co-managing the U21 match?
