Cardiff Targeting Murphy Claim
Tuesday, 26th May 2015 11:52

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade is keen to sign Town’s 27-goal Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy this summer, according to a report.

WalesOnline claims Murphy is one of Slade’s main summer targets as the Bluebirds look to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking following their relegation a year ago.

However, any attempt to sign the 32-year-old Irish international seems likely to end in failure with the striker having said he and his family are settled in Suffolk on a number of occasions this season.

The Waterford-born frontman signed a new contract with the Blues last summer, which currently has another year left to run, while the club have an option to extend it for a further season.

Speaking shortly after the end of the campaign, manager Mick McCarthy reiterated Town’s determination to keep hold of their more coveted players.

Another story, another windup, whatever,MM has said he dosnt want to sell and has told ME that he dosnt want to sell.Time will tell .I bet one thing for sure is that at the moment the fans want him to stay, but if halfway through season he is not banging em in for fun the same fans will be saying we should have sold him ,he was getting on a bit ,should have cashed him in .There will be plenty of rumours, claims and surprises over next couple of months .The only thing i am bothered about is the ambitions of ME .Mick is a good manager ,has done well since being appointed, will he get that extra bit of help from Evans to push on from here,or will we slip backwards ?.

Pffffft, more chance of Murphs moving to Norwich.

He's idolised here and would be insane to even think about moving.

Not many clubs would be interested in signing a 32 yr old, which involved a transfer fee. Obviously no selling on prospect thus unless he was surplus to requirements at Ipswich, which he isn't, all options appear extremely unlikely.....unless some stupid owner offered silly money for him!

Happy family life more important to big murph than loads of dosh from the bluebirds, he did that once when he went to Celtic and couldn't wait until his contract ran out to get away! Murph got blue running through his veins, adopted tractor boy!

The alternative argument (I am going to be clobbered for this) is to sell Murphy now for a cracking fee. He is 32, he has out-performed for 18 months,if Cardiff want to give us a shed load of money for him then let them and we can re-invest in someone younger and better.

32 year old player + leading goalscorer status + one last transfer fee/signing on fee = Daryl Murphy gone!! settled + loads of money on offer = unsettled!!

Interesting. Obviously Cardiff not the club for him but if a Premier Club came in with a silly offer, say £5 MILL + would have to be considered.

Didds has committed himself to us next season, he does owe us, so it would need silly money to take him, £8m +.

Mings I think wi llg o and give us funds to get so e much neded additions, we all know where.

I bet Bish stays with us.
