QPR Linked With £20,000-a-Week Pratley
Thursday, 4th Jun 2015 10:19

QPR are reportedly interested in signing Bolton’s Darren Pratley, the out-of-contract midfielder having been linked with the Blues last week.

Rumours that the 30-year-old free agent was set to join Town began circulating on social media last Thursday with one source even erroneously claiming that the former Fulham, Brentford (loan) and Swansea man was imminently due at the club to undergo a medical.

However, according to a Bolton spokesman, the Trotters were still discussing a new deal with the former Fulham, Brentford and Fulham man.

Now GetWestLondon reports that Rangers are weighing up a move for Pratley as they return to the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League.

They also claim that Pratley is after a deal which matches his previous £20,000-a-week contract at the Macron Stadium, a requirement which would certainly rule the Blues out of the running even if there was something in their rumoured interest. Similarly, Bolton are now unable to offer him those terms.

Meanwhile, Town trio Adam McDonnell, Shane McLoughlin and Cemal Ramadan could win caps this evening when the Republic of Ireland U18s face Luxembourg in the second of two away friendlies. All three started Tuesday’s first game which Ireland won 1-0.

Elsewhere, one-time Blues trialist Joe Ward, 19, has joined Brighton and Hove Albion’s development squad from Chelmsford City for an undisclosed fee. The striker or winger played a number of games for Town during pre-season ahead of the 2013/14 campaign but wasn’t offered a deal.

If those are the wages he's after then no thanks.

Would rather we got a couple of younger, hungrier midfielders with an eye for goal.

Let QPR waste even more money than they have done over the last 2 years!

We can do better with younger, hungrier players with more ability and potential around.

Where are they going to get that sort of money from - they have a massive fine to pay.

I'd be happy with 20k a month, never mind a week. Lots of people don't get that in a year. Don't forget to add all the perks of the job too.
Move on I say, if that's what he's holding out for.

Would be a decent addition, but not on those terms. We need to be competitive to be successful, but not to that extent. Let him go to QPR.

I hear that QPR are going to get Seph Blatter on board (now he is unemployed) to advise them how to get round this FFP fine,, or the points deduction if it comes in force !!!!
should be a laugh !!!!!!

yeah that's true but the fine hasn't been issued yet so it was something that needed to be confirmed as its being appealed and then was stated it was going to the EU courts to delay it even further a until then wont have to be paid and any points deduction or embargo wont be until default, so they are buying early hoping the get a good team to bk them bk asap then they wont need to worry, as the players will be available and have contracts there is nothing can be done but its a very risky game as that on 3 players would be about 5 million investment on 3 new players that being 4mill on fees and about 50k a week wages over 12 months, but that is extra investment on top of clubs running costs as they stand an abosloute joke as is Fulham who did the same and it didn't work, im not convinced this will, let not forget people as we had 2 young lads from Ireland and henshall and stewart if they have there heads on straight are 4 new players that we have already that were not playing last year for one reason or another but have trained and understands the club unlike new players that can take a bit of time to get going cause I remember playing Fulham in august and we were expected to get battered WE WON so money doesn't always talk remember all we have be there anyone want to go back to administration where some one else accepts offers to pay bills.

But as I have said before its early june and most players and managers are on holiday and contracts are not up until normally end of june its panicky agents trying to get help from the press to get more money from the clubs so more money for them, until a deal or interest is stated from a club id take it with a pinch of salt and don't have much interest all im bothered about if we get someone that its the right one and done some research and improves the team early or hasty buys don't always work that just panic buying and that's a bad way to run a club think back to the dark lord days.

Patience - as with FIFA they will face their fate soon and then they will be floundering down in the lower reaches - cannot happen soon enough - hate the team , hate the ground and I just hope Green is still there next season to give him more stick !!

........ this is where today's reality kicks in - although we all want to see Premiership football at Portman Road in the future, can a Club really survive, medium to long term, on a max of 28,000,plus / minus a few, gates.

I know there is big money to be had,but the running costs of salaries alone for Premiership players has become extortionate - just look at the situation at Liverpool with a 20 year old wanting MORE than 100k per week.

Being totally realistic I suppose a Club like ours, or the Carrot Road Clan, can only expect short to medium term tenure at best with such crazy running costs.

It's getting to the point, if not already there, when Clubs in the Premiership will need 40,000 gates to compete and survive.

We strive once again, to get there anyway.

20k a week? No thanks! (To the player that is) Let's go for younger & hungrier. I think football in the Championship is waking up & realising these wages can't continue to be payed & that's why the QPRs of this world are unwelcome.
