Ex-Reading Keeper on Trial Wednesday, 5th Aug 2015 18:01
TWTD understands that former Reading keeper Jonathan Henly has spent the week on trial with the Blues.
Henly, 21, played the second half of Monday’s 2-0 behind-closed-doors friendly defeat at Norwich, having previously been on trial with QPR last week and Ross County this summer.
The Woking-born keeper came through the ranks at Reading but failed to break into the Royals’ first team before he was released at the end of last season. He has been capped by Scotland at U19 and U21 levels.
While at the Madejski Stadium 6ft 4in tall Henly spent time on loan at Aldershot, with whom he made six appearances in what’s now the Vanarama National League during 2013/14, Oxford United, where he failed to play a game, and Welling, where he made 26 starts and one sub appearance last season, again in the fifth tier.
Henly is likely to be viewed as potential cover for senior keepers Bartosz Bialkowski and Dean Gerken, while the addition of a third keeper - short-term signing Paddy Kenny having moved on at the end of last season - would allow Michael Crowe, 19, to go out on another loan spell, having spent time at Woking last season.

I think Bart is more than good enough for this level. Just wondering who people would want in to replace the two keepers we have? cos I'm struggling to think of someone who would be affordable and better
Got to admit, not so bothered by the goalkeeper situation.
Deeply concerned about our right-back situation though. New player badly needed or else Alan Judge will tear Chambers apart on the right (thats IF Chambers plays right-back given how Berra can't play). We could end up with Skuse at right-back for the first game (Parr is obviously not fit).
I sometimes go and watch Southend as I live here. Bently is the sort of goal stopper we should be buying.Probably cost about 1.5mill but well worth it.Have had bids from hull and QPR turned down.
Would rather two reliable GKs than three mediocre keepers. I think the jury is out on Bart, yes he had a dip in form last December but I would be inclined to give him the benefit of doubt at this stage. The problem is if he has a drop in former I don't think Gerken is the long term option nor I fear is Henly - stats here http://www.soccerwiki.org/player.php?pid=70622
I despair at comments about the Evans corporation pocketing the Mings money - or we should spend it to get a good keeper.
Reality is that at end June 2014 we had net debt of £82 million and annual operating losses running at £6 mill to £8 mill.
Thank your lucky stars we have someone to carry the debt and that we have had a couple of lucky transfer sales to offset operating losses which would otherwise only increase the debt.
Also we are fortunate that MM can run the team successfully on such a tight budget.
@EatonBlue it was more the Jon Henly, sorry Don Henley original, but very decorative, thanks. I read in Harry's previews that a couple of our rivals and even non-rivals have got season-long GK loans from Premiership clubs, where most of the top GKs seem to be lurking.
Overall Bart is as good as any championship keeper. Look at John Ruddy at Naarwich, you wouldn,t call him first class, but he helped them to the Prem. All keepers will make the odd mistake even Joe Hart.
Every GK is prone to an error, just look at Joe Hart. A GK is only as good as his back 4; Bart only had a 3rd a season and had to direct a CB playing RB, a sloppy Tommy Smith and a rockie Tyrone Mings. Crowe is a very good young keeper that should be viewed as our future number 1 in a season or 2. Bringing in another GK just to allow this young man to go out on loan shows how highly rated he is at this club.
