McGoldrick Signs New Deal
Thursday, 20th Aug 2015 17:19

Striker David McGoldrick has extended his Town contract until the summer of 2018.

“Obviously I’m delighted to have signed the contract and I’m looking forward to being part of the future here,” McGoldrick told the club site.

“There is a real buzz about the place at the moment and it’s great to be part of it. We have got a great set of players here and we are going in the right direction.

“The squad is the best I have known in my time here, with the options we have now. We have got real competition for places all over the pitch. The Premier League where we all want to be and that’s the aim for us this season.”

McGoldrick, 27, joined the Blues initially on loan from Nottingham Forest in January 2013, before signing on a permanent basis the following summer following his release from the City Ground.

Last season the Blues triggered an option on his previous deal, which took the Ireland international to the end of the current season, with discussions regarding his new contract having been ongoing over the summer.

Excellent news. That's Sears, Murphy and McGoldrick. Things are looking good up front as a Pitman also signed a three year deal I think? Exciting times.

Great stuff. The nucleus of our squad are now nicely settled on longish deals. The stability of the club can only be a good thing. Well done Mick & Marcus.

Fantastic. It's great to see our stars commit to the club rather than us stupidly let the contracts run down like during the Clegg/Keane years.

The way he's looked over the past couple of the games this could be the signing of the summer.

On his day and when fully fit, he can waltz through any defence in the Championship. COYB

What this does mean is that if someone does come in for him Town have some real bargaining power with the longer contract. Personally I hope he stays fit stays here and shows us what we have missed the past 2 seasons when he's been injured.
Once again the current management have quietly done their jobs behind the scenes.

This really is the most fantastic news.

Having our best player whose contract run out at the end of the year looked ominous, against the backdrop of other quality players having been given extended contracts over the previous 12 months or so, as part of the MM revolution. I had seriously thought that this may have been his last year - but no.

Make no mistake, this is a massive boost for our promotion drive, so long as he is lucky enough to avoid any more serious injuries now he is fit again. COYB.

Brilliant news. I expected him to see out his contract & move closer to his family so I'm amazed & delighted to see him sign a new deal. It goes to show what a good feeling there is at the club right now that they all want to be part of it.
When Didzy gets back to his best we have a terrific talent.
Well done to all at ITFC there is a real chance this could finally be our year

I cant believe this its fantastic news, even not being negative we don't make it this year, we have a squad with young lads getting exp, to build on for next year would make us even more a force not to be taken lightly, and as he doesn't live local, shows commitment to the club, and after his goal, on tues you could see the joy and passion and team spirt we got this is our time.

Great news that means the best 2 strikers at the club are tied up in 1 week.

I see on other threads that some are still whinging about the 8m Mings money, well its being invested in wages and how much would McG and Sears cost on present form?

ME may have given these boys 10k a week more but he has saved the club 2 million to replace each.

Most astute signings of the year!

How anyone can possibly still be anti MM I don't know.
The improvement in our football club over the last couple of years is immense.
Great news.

So, where are the doubters now, spouting their negative posts based on little knowledge. DM is a real class act and it is of no surprize to me that he is 100% committed to this club as are Skuse, rubbished by some on here, Hyam, equally so etc., etc. The signings of late have been truly phenomenal and all done with the aplomb that is the trademark of MM & TC. As a long term supporter of ITFC through the good and bad times it irks me to read such negative posts by some who believe that success is our right (tho not tonight ,maybe). Well that is patently not right. Sir Alf didn't get it right from day one and nor did Bobby Robson. The whole squad is totally committed to ITFC and as I am, and MM & TC along with in no small way with the Chief Exec are placing this club in a prime position to succeed. Thank you Marcus for sticking it out. The glory days will return, all we need to do is support that and our team. Get yourselves to fortress PR and believe!!!!!

I have always said that Didsy is our most skilled footballer.

There was speculation about DG. People were saying his family live in Nottingham; his wife and family are not happy. I NOW smell a big load of bull$h1t!!

And now DG has signed a 3 year contract!!

Good for you David. I personally admire your ability. You just seem to have the time to look around, make a calculated decision, and act upon it.

If you do read TWTD, please be assured that everyone that has a genuine appreciation of football skill knows what a wonderful player you are.

Ignore the plebs.

Up the blues!!!!

If indeed a good proportion of mingsdosh is being spent on keeping our best players committed to the cause...
Could it be spent any more wisely....?
I don't think so
Thanks Tyrone, you should get the freedom of Ipswich !
