Town in New Orange Kit at Reading
Thursday, 10th Sep 2015 12:00

Town will wear a new orange third kit during Friday’s live-on-Sky game at Reading (KO 8pm).

The Blues registered last season’s orange away strip as their third kit for the season ahead but are unable to wear it due to a lack of existing stock and as adidas having stopped manufacturing it.

Therefore, adidas have supplied Town with an alternative orange shirt which will be worn with last year’s second strip socks and shorts when both the current home kit and the Barcelona-style away shirt clashes with the opposition. The orange shirt will not be on sale to fans.

A club spokesperson explained to TWTD: "Ipswich Town have a clause in their supply contract from adidas which states the minimum quantities of any ordered products.

"The minimum order for a third shirt, to be retailed, is 10,000 units in adult sizes and/or 10,000 units in youth sizes.

"This makes selling the shirt a completely unviable option. The 10,000 minimum order quantity is only slightly lower than our usual order for the home shirt each season.

"It’s likely that with its late introduction to the kit line-up we would have only sold through circa 2,000 shirts in this style."

The only teams we are likely to play the Barca kit are those with no blue clash. The club will have to decide to wear the Barca kit by choice e.g. Leeds Utd away.

I actually hate the term Barca kit, it looks more like Crystal Palace to me.

If thought had been given, it should not be necessary to have three kits.
Why did they just not stick with Orange of last season?
Stupid comment from me as it was obviously just another money making scheme from Town who just like all other clubs want to fleece the supporters.

If the away shorts were simply red and not navy blue there wouldn't be a problem.

Don't think I'd like shorts with a picture of Mick Hucknall on!

I was going to suggest the only outing for the away kit is QPR away, but they've beefed up their hoops this season. For want of a better phrase...

our away kit is nearly as bad a farce as narwich - they also green and yellow second AND third kits. Doubly annoyed as our away kit means we can't laugh at them for it

I could see the "Barca" kit being worn at Leeds, MK Dons and Huddersfield. Possibly a few others where the extent of the clash would be a bit less than is the case with Reading (e.g. some of the teams who wear white shorts at home). Agree with those who think it was a daft choice of colours.

I'm in agreement with tractor Viking nothing wrong with a white shirt I can remember some great away days playing in white

the problem with white guys is we couldn't wear that neither against ne team with white in their shirt. so tomorrow, qpr, Huddersfield, brighton, sheff weds to name but 5. plus, why would we wear barca kit at leeds? we'll wear home shirts for that one more than likely. we normally do

If by any chance we draw Crystal Palace away in the FA Cup does that mean we will need a forth kit? We won't be able to wear blue or the bars kit and I would say that orange will lash with red.

I like the plain white top and black shorts for the away kit.
Nice and simple.

Mick and the lads no doubt hate the vile 'Barca' kit and don't want to wear it, and who can blame them!
