Oar Wins Cap as Australia Thrash Bangladesh
Tuesday, 17th Nov 2015 13:43

Blues winger Tommy Oar came on as a 47th minute sub as Australia thrashed Bangladesh 4-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Dhaka.

The Socceroos, whose starting line-up included ex-Town loanee Massimo Luongo, were already four in front when the 23-year-old came on - Tim Cahill netted a first-half hat-trick and Mile Jedinak added the fourth just before the break - to win his 28th full cap.

The result puts Australia top of their qualification group by two points from Jordan having played an extra game. The Jordanians are in action against Kyrgyzstan this afternoon.

This evening, Town central defender Josh Yorwerth could win his fifth Wales U21 cap and keeper Michael Crowe his first when the side coached by ex-Blues midfielder Geraint Williams faces Romania at The Racecourse, Wrexham in a Euro 2017 qualifier.

Winger Dylan Connolly could win his 10th cap when the Republic of Ireland U21s take on Norway in a friendly at the RSC in Waterford.

Meanwhile, former Town strikers Shefki Kuqi and Pablo Couñago have each taken a third share in their current club, Finnish side PK-35 Vantaa, alongside chairman Markku Hynninen.

Kuqi will remain as manager of the club he recently saw into the Veikkausliiga, the Finnish top flight, via the play-offs, while Couñago, now 36, will continue his playing career.

Elsewhere, former Blues winger Stephen Hunt is on trial with Town's most recent opponents Rotherham United.

The 34-year-old, who left Portman Road at the end of last season, saw a move to Cardiff City break down earlier in the campaign.

On a change of subject what are the views on the away Barcelona kit? It is seldom worn as there are few occasions where it would make any more difference than blue and white (or all blue as recently). A guy in the club shop told me that Addidas insisted on it. I wondered if someone was having a laugh at McCarthy as Barcelona's football could not be more different to MM's hideous hoofball.

Town friends, Sweden is on its way to France. Looking forward to see us trashed against Murph :)

Zlatan doing the business. Wouldn't shock me if we don't have adidas kit for much longer..

We do play hideous hoofball, but to be fair it does get results now and then. Think we would be in the bottom 6 if we tried to pass the ball like Barcelona. We haven't got the players for it.

Really looking forward to the return of Luke Varney. Gives us an extra dimension up front. Hunt may well do well for Rotherham; definitely worth a shout.

Personally I think our way kit is a joke. It clashes with almost every team in the league and will hardly be worn.

I don't agree that we can't try to play football on the floor: professional players can train for it and do much better. mM is the one who decides who we sign!

We might as well not have any midfield players and play a 5-0-5 formation....

Luke Varney to do something special, seriously.
