Rotherham Keen to Sign Hyam on Loan
Monday, 23rd Nov 2015 15:31

TWTD understands that Championship strugglers Rotherham United are keen on signing Blues midfielder Luke Hyam on a month’s loan.

On Friday, Town boss Mick McCarthy revealed that he wants to send the 24-year-old out for a short spell in order to play games having been sidelined since January due to a knee injury which eventually required surgery in the summer.

Hyam, who returned to action for the U21s in Friday’s 1-1 draw at QPR, is very much in McCarthy’s long-term plans but is unlikely to play first-team games for Town as he continues his recovery with plenty of other central midfield options available to the Blues manager.

“If he comes back having had all the time out and gets fit and then he doesn’t play and he travels with us and he doesn’t play, travels with us and doesn’t play again, he loses all the benefit of all his rehab,” McCarthy said.

“If we can put him out for a month, which I think we probably can, and he’s happy to do it, then that’s what will happen.”

Football League clubs have until Thursday at 5pm to sign players via the emergency loan facility.

Speaking on Friday, McCarthy said that he had no plans to add to his squad before the deadline, while he was also open to the likes of Josh Emmanuel and Myles Kenlock going out on loan to gain experience.

I don't think Hyam will be a starter every week but I do think he'll be a big part of the squad and will be brought in when needed. If Skuse gets injured then Hyam will come in as Douglas is much better in a 3 man midfield where he has license to push forward.

Hyam's injury coincided with a big dip in the form of the team last season - surly no coincidence. Also we do lack bite in the centre of the pitch.

Hyam isn't the best on the ball but in a midfield three I would have him Bru and Bishop - obviously when fully fit.

I know that I will be in the minority but I think that Skuse is a luxuary player who weakons the entire team.

Back to the story - a short term loan move is an excellent idea for him to get back to full fitness.

When fit potentially so but it's going to take a good 2 months to be fit so get him out on loan.

Is Coke THAT bad? I thought vs Man Utd he had quite a decent game!

I don't mind Luke going out to Rotherham as long AS HE DOES come back after the month after gaining fitness. I can't help feeling Douglas and Skuse will be ruling the roost in midfield all this season.

When the hell is Bishop coming back? he's been out almost as long as Hyam, whats to stop Mick putting him out on loan too?!
