Milne: Nobody's for Sale
Sunday, 20th Dec 2015 20:12

Town MD Ian Milne has reiterated that the Blues have no intention of selling any of their players during the January window and says there’s scope for manager Mick McCarthy to add to his squad if he wants to make further additions.

Speaking on Friday, McCarthy said there was “no chance” of January sales when asked whether there might be interest in striker Freddie Sears or other members of his squad and Milne concurred.

“Absolutely, as this time last season when we sold nobody and there was some interest in some players,” he told Saturday’s Life’s a Pitch on BBC Radio Suffolk.

“I’m sure there will be some interest in ‘Hurricane’ Sears, as I call him, but nobody’s up for sale, we want to keep them.

“You never know, if somebody comes in with a huge bid and then it’s a discussion with the player, you don’t want to keep a player back.

“But certainly, as I stand here, there are no plans to sell anybody and I think going forward if Mick needs to complement the team, which I can’t see that he does at the moment, if he wants to complement the team, that’s a discussion that he and Marcus will have.

“I think we’ve shown that where we need to take on players, we’ve taken on some great players.

“It’s a great squad. I was with Mick on Friday and he’s very happy with the squad that he’s got and they’re proving themselves on the pitch.”

Manager McCarthy has repeatedly said that he is happy with his squad as it stands.

Without Marcus Evans millions there would be no itfc. He continues to dig deep to keep us afloat be grateful that he cares enough to keep the clubs head above water

....... so, according to some - we have to be grateful we have a Club - irrespective of anything else.

Maybe for some, but not all of us.

" The last owner failed miserably on that score, and we nearly went bust because of it."

Perhaps MrDiddle you could tell us all who this 'last owner' was.

In reality the truth is we are going nowhere, and have been pretty much since Marcus Evans took over.

It might mean little to you that virtually no one is coming through the youth system. Most, like Connolly, are returned back from whence they came. The youth system is as good as defunct, though some are still being touched for money to support, what ? There won't be a cat 1 acadamy. Nor will half the squad come from the youth set up in 2017 as Milne previously claimed.

It's said that the first step for an alcoholic is to admit his/her drink problem. The first step for the gullible such as yourself MrDiddle is to take your head out out the sand and stop deluding yourself everything will be alright as long as we tug a bit harder on our forelock.

The club needs new blood and an approach that suggestss there is some ambition there. All of which are sadly lacking at the moment.

As long as there are fools like yourself this constant failing will continue. Time to wake up.

My objection is not to the spending of the club and people have made some good points about ME's investment. We are well run, if expensive to watch club. I left Ipswich many years ago but you are lucky to have such a decent club in the town and it is always a pleasure to get to PR when I can. My objection is to the football we play and Mick is responsible for this. I don't want passing football for the sake of it and the points about MK Dons and co are valid. However Mick, there are good, cheap or free players out there who want to and can play good quality, attacking, passing football AND "poot dere fooot in" - you just don't sign them mate. Or if you do you make them play the dire negative drivel that we have to see week in week out. Sears must be pulling his hair out - great little player with pace and a finish who would score a hatful given decent service. Played as a wide man and asked to run himself into the ground. Mick did the same to a certain Kevin Doyle - destroyed him. Mick is the problem.

Maybe you should all turn up on boxing day with your 'Mick Out' banners. You'll be in a minority i'm quite sure!

Up the town!!
