Gills Midfielder Linked
Monday, 1st Feb 2016 15:04

Surprise deadline day reports are linking the Blues with an unlikely move for Gillingham midfielder Bradley Dack.

According to The Sun, Town have made a £2 million approach for the 22-year-old, who has scored 14 goals from midfield for the Gills in League One this season and has also been mentioned in connection with Bristol City and Reading.

Later reports claim that offer has been rejected, however, Town are highly unlikely to have been willing to pay out a fee of anything approaching that size.

Speaking at lunchtime, Blues boss Mick McCarthy reiterated that he was happy with his squad and had no plans to make any additions before tonight’s 11pm deadline, although he did say he had made some enquiries regarding "younger" players and said they were "non-starters really in terms of the money", which may be the source of the Dack claims.

Greenwich-born Dack played youth football with Charlton before moving to the Kent side’s youth set-up. He spent time on loan with Braintree in 2013 and is contracted to the Gills until 2018.

I'm sure you are right! As happy as mick is with the squad I would still very much like this or something similar to happen!

A. We've never bid £2 million for anyone. B. If they really want £5 mill then the Gills board are on crack. C. Agree, would rather see Roofe or Moncur instead. Roofe is well worth a punt, looks a handful.

On another note I see QPR are looking to offload JET already, yet another player vaunted as the saviour of the club, yet another 'genius' that some still belive should not have been moved on that can't seem to make an impression any where else.....

The financial situation at the club, i.e. lack of funds for any transfers is really beginning to worry me. If it is not about finances, but lack of ambition within the higher echelons of the club that would also be of great concern to me. Either way this has to be the most depressing transfer window for ITFC supporters for a while. L:et's also celebrate mediocrity. COYB

type of player we need - MM is happy though he has his nice new deal in place with TC for another 2 years regardless - probably left us £25k in the transfer budget

Listening to the Mick interview, doesn't sound as if he is now even bothering to look;but think he may have made some tentative enquiries earlier in the window.

From his remarks, seems much more likely to try and get a player when the emergency window opens for loans, although he says that this will be the last time that this can be used.I also think that they can only be for 3 months.I cannot understand why he did not go for Jonny Williams, when he was available.Surely Evans isn't tightening the purse strings so much now that we cant afford him, having been here twice before.

The Sun have obviously got it wrong! £2M approach for a league 1 player from us, I'll believe it when I see it!

This guy is just what we need , and would enhance a promotion push without a doubt , but sadly this won't happen !! It has become quite clear to most of us that ME has little or no ambition of promotion any more !! Surely Mick and ME cannot really believe our current squad is good enough ?? Therefore by not adding to it proves this point !! Heyho it is what it is !!!!!!!!

According to Sky Sports Gills have already turned down £2m from Bristol City, so sounds like a very good player who is sadly way out of our league.

@joepublic

Bristol City have Steve lansdown as chairman who has ambitions of bringing premier league football to the city... We have, well we all know what we have.

Unless he can be transferred here for a packet of crisps and a panda pop, then he's out of our budget.

Funniest thing I've seen all week! Too many zero's on that, more like £20.00 and we might take a gamble on him!
