Town in Talks With Feeney
Saturday, 7th May 2016 15:14

Town boss Mick McCarthy says the Blues are in talks with loanee Liam Feeney about joining Town on a permanent basis in the summer. The 29-year-old is out of contract with parent club Bolton this summer.

“We’re talking to him and we’re talking to his agent,” McCarthy confirmed. “I’d like him to stay and he would like to stay and if we can come to a mutually beneficial deal then that’s what will happen. If we don’t, then we won’t.”

The Town boss says it’s less likely that Ben Pringle, who is on loan from Fulham, will join the Blues in the summer: “It’s different with Ben Pringle, he’s got a year to run on his contract, probably not.”

... So basically Pringle will command a fee and Feeney won't. I think we know where this summers transfer strategy is heading!! Frees and loans.

Having said that, I like Feeney - whether he is a promotion chasing player I'm not so sure, but certainly better than some of our other players,

I hope it happens. I think he could shine in a re-vamped midfield with proper fullbacks.

More than decent enough for us. Just need to get a younger version of Murphy on the end of his crosses

Pringle would be an OK free but a waste of money. Feeney on a free however would be an excellent transfer

Content to see us keep Feeney and let Pringle go. Yes, Ben scored a couple of winners, but I can't say I ever saw an awful lot from him in the games I attended - not compared to the way I've seen Liam lift matches or find our best deliveries of the game from nowhere.

Just hope Feeney can kick that habit of stalling his runs just as it seems like he's powering forward. Often kills the momentum that he helped to create.

Fingers crossed then, pleased we're not going after Pringle

He's not good enough, his crosses are poor. Only signing him as he's a free agent. Not enough quality I'm afraid. No better than what we've got

Happy with this. Direct, turn of pace and a good delivery. Even if he's a sub he'd be a good impact player. Pringle's come in and done a good job but not worth paying money for.

Top player . Should go for Pringle as a midfielder can score goals ! Haven't seen one of them for a while .

No sitheswan because, like so many players over the course of Micks reign,Ben Pringle has hardly featured.

This is very promising as he has been a breath of fresh air in the wide areas and for me don't really well when called upon. Jewells - If you recall he put the cross in for Andre Dozzell's goal against Sheffield Wednesday !

Jewels - are you being serious!!

Crosses are poor, are you on a different planet mate.
He's crosses has been premiership quality, just a shame we haven't had premiership quality on the end of them.

Says it all really doesn't it..? Pringle signings wuould cost a few pound now they not interested, no point saying mick having talks with evans about summer spending when they haven't got a notion. Lets look at the over 30's free transfers shall we and sorry the youth players of the premier league whos wages are no more than 1-3k a week.. mid table next season already cemented

To be fair Feeney is better than Pringle so hopefully Mick is simply avoiding saying that by talking about the transfer fee situation. Pringle isn't the kind of player we want to spend money on anyway.

I quite like what I've seen of Feeney so far so not disappointed by this at all.

The comment about Pringle does nothing to dispel the thought we will be shopping in the bargain basement again this summer though.

The obvious thing is to think that Pringle is a no because he would command a fee as that has been our transfer strategy for a while, although we have paid for Sears & Knudsen. I personally feel it's because Fulham aided by a PL parachute offered Pringle good money last summer when we were interested. I suspect that Fulham would let go on a free to release wages but Town wage structure different and Pringle will sit out final year as it's a good deal for him and look to go out on loan again.
