Norwegian Blues Claim Bronze Monday, 6th Jun 2016 10:28 The Ipswich Town Supporters Club of Norway carried off bronze at the Supporters’ Cup in Oslo on Saturday, their best ever performance at the annual tournament. ![]() Having negotiated their way through the group stages, Ipswich Town 1, one of two Blues teams entered in the senior competition, beat Arsenal 2-1 in the quarter-finals, before losing 1-0 to Spurs at the semi-final stage. The third/fourth play-off against Aston Villa was reduced to a penalty shoot-out due to the heat and Town won 7-6 to claim third place. Liverpool won for the second year running, beating Spurs 1-0 in the final. In addition to the two senior sides - which were augmented by a number of travelling English Blues including Bury Town striker David Lampshire - Town fielded a team in the junior competition for 10-13-year-olds and the youngsters also claimed bronze. ![]() The tournament, which has been run by the Supporterunionen for Britisk Fotball for more than 20 years, is a six-a-side competition involving 40 teams made up of more than 1,000 Norwegian supporters of British clubs. ![]() Photos supplied by Ole Bernt Krogstad and Geir Ingvald Jacobsen
