Mix of Senior and Fringe Players in First Half at Shelbourne Saturday, 9th Jul 2016 14:12 Town boss Mick McCarthy has named a team which is a mix of first-team regulars and fringe players for the first half of this afternoon’s opening pre-season friendly against Shelbourne at Tolka Park (KO 3pm). The Blues manager will play a different XI in the second half.
Striker Daryl Murphy doesn't return for pre-season until Tuesday having been at the European Championships, while Myles Kenlock missed the trip due to injury.
New signing Adam Webster travelled but won't be involved as he recovers from his ankle injury, while Giles Coke stayed in Suffolk having undergone knee surgery at the end of last season.
First-half team: Gerken, Chambers, Robinson, Digby, Berra, Bishop, Skuse, Bru, McDonnell, Pitman, McLoughlin.

Still got this horrible feeling that McCarthy will do his utmost to have the Gerkin back as his first choice. Hope he doesn't succeed Bart the better keeper by far.

This is frustrating. A game like this, and he is still playing Chambo at right back. When will he understand he is not a right back and either go into the market for one, or give Emmanuel the chance as he is more than good enough to give it a go!!

......... it's about all we have anyway - let's not be deluded. The most stubborn manager in the Country is still at the helm - get used to it all - it ain't going to change. However wrong he is - he will ALWAYS be right - get used to it, or vote with your feet, like several have already done.

1 nil half-time. Shelbourne proving quite plucky! Teddy by far our best player. Great goal from Brad Pitman.

Gotta say Bluetone I have to agree with you. Even though Bart has proved he is by far the better keeper, Mick still seems to rate Gerken and will take any opportunity to bring him back in. Think Bart started last season as number 1 due to Gerken getting injured.

Amazed at how limited the choice is up front ........and where are these wingers we have been promised . we look like a team lacking exciting attacking options . ....McColdrick injured ..............nothing new there then the lack of new signings is worrying

Stop being so negative guys or Pragmatic will curse you and give you downmarks and make you cry. No surprise chambers is RB, dinosaur has stated he will be playing there this season. Yes he's a liability in the position especially with smith out of position with no right foot but we have to hope Webster is fit as he must be better than we have. Gerken is useless and no way he replaces Bart oh hold on dinosaur is the manager so could happen. Teddy IS our best player along with Didz, so that's Skuse and Murphy guaranteed ahead of them then. As for new sugnings we have to wait apparently until premier league teams have been on tour and are ready to release who they don't want on loan. After all no other teams in our division haven't signed anyone yet it's far too early .... Barnsley 3 Birmingham 4 Blackburn 3 Bristol City 4 Cardiff 3 Huddersfield 6 Leeds 3 Newcastle 4 Forest 3 Preston 4 QPR 3 Wigan 3 We will once again wait till week before season starts so new faces have ages to settle in then we will get the cast offs others don't want. Dinosaur can't get better than we have anyway as he constantly tells us !!!! Blueboy1981 has it spot on. Vote with your feet until Evans Milne & McCarthy realise the product they are producing and serving up is not good enough and fans have had enough of their dross !!!

Florida Boy - couldn't agree with you more. Some people would moan whatever happened. Come out with the same nonsense week after week. Just ignore them and get behind the team like most fans do! Every club has a minority unfortunately Shame to see McGoldrick not playing, hopefully not injured or anything. But good to see Sears on the score sheet again. Only preseason but last time he scored was away to Fulham in December I think! Also really good to see lots of the youngsters out there seeing what its all about.

So wrong as normal !!! Facts are facts. MM makes same errors over and over. Evans sticks to FFP like no other club. Not moaning for mornings sake I want us to succeed more than anyone else but you people just follow and stick head in sand no matter what happens. That's your opinion don't dish others just cos it doesn't agree with yours !!!
