Friends Ask Fellow Fans to Join In Minute's Applause
Friends Ask Fellow Fans to Join In Minute's Applause
Thursday, 4th Aug 2016 10:18

Friends of Town fan Wayne Double, who sadly passed away this summer, will be holding a minute’s applause in the 42nd minute of Saturday’s opening fixture at home to Barnsley as a tribute.

Wayne was a long-standing season ticket holder from Clacton and died two days after celebrating his 42nd birthday, hence the timing of the applause.

Wayne’s friends, who sit in Area 4, Row K of the Sir Bobby Robson Stand lower tier, are asking fans elsewhere in the stadium to join them in remembering a fellow supporter.

Didn't know the bloke but so sad to hear, one of the Town family and taken too soon. Life's precious man.

I'll certainly join in and raise a glass for a fellow blue from the North stand.

RIP and COYB.

Wayne was a nice lad, we knew each other, not a close friend but always had time to say hello and talk Town. A great gesture.

Be good if everyone joins in thanks for this Phil. Time to give the lad a send off he would of wanted.

Will miss having a pint or two before the game with him, taken from us far too early, went to his funeral and was a great turn out from fellow blues wearing ITFC shirts or colours.

RIP mate, and let's make it a great minutes applause on 42.

12th Man it is called respect, and it would mean a lot to his family and friends like me, if he was given this honor by his fellow Town supporters.

If you don't want to applaud come and stand in front of the lower Sir Bobby stand, and just cross your arms. I would love to meet you face to face.

12th man.

You've gone from being an idiot to being plain disrespectful or trolling.

What do you do on Rememberance Day? Boo? Or just talk loudly because you didn't know any of the old soldiers personally?

12th man= grade A tool!!! I too can't say I knew the chap but what a complete twit you have made yourself look! RESPECT is what he deserves spending thousands of pounds following the blues! This tight knit club is one thing I love and sadly I won't be able to be at the game Saturday being in the algarve on holiday however I would be belting my hands together for the poor man who lost his life too soon! RIP fellow blue! Let's win it for Wayne! COYB

I will be, we all went to play off final in 2000 together. I encourage all fans to join in, as for people saying I didn't know him so won't, that's sad and pathetic. We applaud all sorts, wayne was an ITFC fan and deserves his minutes applause! COYBs

What a stupid comment to make that is 12th_man. Like Kuqi says we all know you're an idiot anyway but that comment is completely out of line

I apologise to anyone I of course will be clapping

Wayne was as Blue as you get and a lovely guy with it. He deserves it and more. His Dad used to run the Clacton supporters coach back in the days of Sir Bob and was also a great guy. Very sad, so let's give it our all for one of our own. Sadly missed. COYB⚽️🔵⚪️

12th man - don't know you pal but you really are a pointless, disrespectful excuse for a human being.

When your time comes, i'd stand up and clap whatever minute you cease to be, just like I will for this chap who passed far too young.

Have a bit of respect and common sense you clown

Up arrowed you on the wrong post but meant to acknowledge your decency in trying to make amends.
Please think more carefully in future as you can hurt a lot of people.
RIP Wayne. The Clacton Blues will miss you.

i will of course join in. Remember that amazing moment a season or two ago when the fans joined in for a minutes applause in memory of another fellow fan taken too soon and Murph smashed one in just as it was coming to an end. What a moment! lets hope that can happen again.

A massive thank you to Phil & everyone who has posted such nice comments even if the majority never knew or met Wayne. All of Wayne's family & friends are very grateful to everyone concerned. We're all looking forward to Saturday, three points in the sunshine of Portman Road will be a fitting send off for our much missed friend. Cheers again everyone 😊 COYB's #WALLOP
