Patterson Joins Braintree on Loan
Tuesday, 25th Oct 2016 21:17

Blues youngster Monty Patterson has joined Vanarama National League Braintree Town on a month’s youth loan.

The 19-year-old New Zealand international, who came on as a sub for Town's U23s against Cardiff City last night, was on the bench for the Iron at Woking this evening and came on in the 77th minute as they claimed a 3-2 victory.

The midfielder or striker, who has won seven full international caps, recently scored his first goal for the All Whites in a 1-1 friendly draw with the USA.

After watching U23's last night I'm sure Braintree is a big step up!

At least I expect Braintree try and play football, he'll come back all confused.

I said it when he scored. Mick will not be having people around the place who score goals. Should be looking for another club as he has no future with ipswich town.

Now a manager ( like the ones we have had in the distant past ) who wanted to build up this club, would be playing some of these youngsters as sub etc in the first team.
Whats the point of us having an academy when all the youngsters are palmed off and then released.

What on earth is an international doing being sent out on loan to Braintree? Either he is good enough or not. Either he is the future or he is not. 19 is not too young if you are good enough - John Stones was playing Premier League football with Everton at 19. I can only think that's the problem with the youngsters at Ipswich Town that they can all play football but not the hoof ball that McCarthy demands.
The likes of Berra should be fighting to keep their places but they know they are safe.

I can think of at least a couple of England internationals who should be joining him! ;-)

@MickRoyle and how many of those are regulars in the first team? They should be starting every week imo, compare to the dross that starts every game, such as Douglas and Chambers...

@tempzzzz

All of them are in the matchday squad more or less every week.

Kenlock over Knudsen? Not for me, Knudsen is getting better every time he plays.

Emmanuel over Chambers? Yep, would be happy with that.

Bishop will be a consistent starter in CM soon. He's very injury prone and I think he's being handled well at the moment.

Dozzell - He's 17. Shouldn't be starting, 1 bad game at our level and his confidence is gone. Should really be out on loan gaining some experience.

In terms of the main article however, Patterson should probably have been given a go by now

This is probably more of a reflection of New Zealand's ability as a football team than MM's as a manager.

Rory Fallon (a player coach at Truro City) is also in the New Zealand squad for God's sake!

being a new Zealand international is absolutely irrelevant as to whether he shouldn't be getting sent out on loan for experience! rory fallon still plays for them and he is about 49! maybe this guy isn't good enough yet, hence the season for being loaned out!

MM isn't prepared to take a risk with youth and seems happy to lose with likes of Douglas and Chambers. What's the point of academy if very few make the first team. we should up our entry level and look further afield, not just Ireland. Can't remember the last Irish player that made it and suspect that their standards are very low
Cardiff had promising Belgium but guess that says everything about MM. He just sticks with what he knows!
