McCarthy: Owner Remains Very Supportive Wednesday, 2nd Nov 2016 16:58 Mick McCarthy says owner Marcus Evans remains as supportive now, during what the Town boss admits is the toughest spell of his time at Portman Road, as he was when the Blues were in the play-off places.
Despite some fans calling for McCarthy's head, Evans is unlikely to be looking at making a change with the Town owner having shown patience with his managers in the past.
The Blues are currently 16th, six points off their pre-season target of the play-offs and four points from the relegation zone.
“I have always enjoyed a very good relationship with Marcus,” McCarthy told Ipswich Player HD in an interview reflecting on his four years at the club, yesterday having been the anniversary of his appointment.
“I don’t see lot of him but we speak after every game and he rang me on Sunday morning after the Rotherham game.
“The conversation is always a lot easier when you are in the top six than where we are at the moment. It’s a lot happier conversation but Marcus was no different to usual.
“He has always been very supportive and nothing has changed. He is the same now as when we were in the play-off places. He knows what we are striving for.”

The problem isn't being 16th in the table...it's the complete lack of style with which we play these days...even when we've been in the top 2 or 3 the style of football's still been cr4p. The last 7/8 years has not been enjoyable since ME took over..not necessarily his fault because he did initially throw a lot of money into the team but without any real plan to back it up..should've persevered with Magilton (we'd all love one of our own in charge now, wouldn't we?)..instead of employing a stream of managers who've taken teams up in the past..I do honestly dread to think who'd be next if McCarthy does go. This is what happens when people who know nothing about football or more importantly know nothing about the history of a club take over..I would not want some foreign owner chopping and changing managers every 2 months - that would be a lot worse than the way things are now but someone needs to properly advise ME on his next appointment.

Mick thinks he is fireproof and certainly acts and talks like it-----it is getting to the point where regardless of actual football and tactics people are actually starting not to like him as a person. This is then the time to go.

I have been a supporter of this once proud and ambistous club for more years than i care to count! the average gates are falling week on week, its now around 15k! its not that long ago when we averaged 22/24k week in week out, that is a huge revenue loss just how much further does it need to fall before somone in management notices the empty blue seats? Season ticket sales are falling year on year! should this trend continue we will be losing even more money! Now on to MM, the man is a multi millionaire, what does he care? i just wish he would bu--er off off to his villa in Portugal and throw his passport on the BBQ, yes he did save us, but this last 18 months and served us up the worst football in living memory, we are going nowhere under this present regime, becoming an embarrassment! Saturdays game against Rotheram, quote" a must win game!!" i wish McGoldick had missed, then maybe we could have seen the back of MM but i doubt it!! I despair at where we are going, what our actual plan for the furure actually is? the only answer is for us fans is to show our contempt with our feet, and by not going, sad to say that, i certainly will not venture from North Norfolk down to PR until things have changed, tired of reading the same negative thoughts, unless someone can show me something postive? Sadly we in the majority seem to think the same at the moment!!

I always like mick he reminds me of a half made up zombie extra in the walking dead ,and i loved the way he managed the dark lord in the world cup but i think its time he should devote himself fully to retirement or golf or just being an extra on that walking dead series...town are a important club in england and deserve the very very best...

Alrighty people, having just finished a little mucho needed coffee-break from work, which beside giving me this sweet sweet addictive caffeine kick I soooo crave at regular intervals :-) also gave me just enough time to scribble a slightly more Zzzzerious post , and little sort of questionnaire aimed for our media shy & mute owner, than the 1st one posted here: Ehmmm......Dear Marcus 'The Football-Clueless One' Evans Oh good sir please please enlighten us "uninformed" ITFC fans what it is that's really really deep down deserving of your unwavering SUPPORT to the dinosauric, suffering clearly from 'Delusion of Grandeur', beyond arrogant and not the least joyfully holding-fans-in-pure-contempt MANAGER of our club , who in case you had your head buried in the sand on some exotic beach .... or in a magnificent golf course's shrubbery! lol.... not only (unsurprisingly, given his aforementioned characteristics!) grows more and more unpopular by fans of all ages but also becomes IRREVERSIBLE UNWANTED among especially longtime fans up to the point here they simply stay away, by the bloody bloody day??? At the same token let's play a little football quiz Mr.Evans shall we???? :-) whereby you my good sir tell & show us fans the following: A worse managerial run, at this equivalent level or higher, than this here at ITFC by Master Mick in the 2016/2017 season where the "Gaffer"(as his beloved player 'favorites' here soooo luv to call this manager when they go on one of their pathetically ORCHESTRATED Public Relations stunts!), the one ultimately ACCOUNTABLE for results & performances, hasn't consequently been shown ANYTHING but "unwavering support" from the ownership, but moreover has actually been fired!: "Exhibit A"): 1 win in last 8 games!!! "Exhibit B"): Further ultra embarrassing: SHUT OUT in 6 of those 8 games!!! ... making it 9 times being SHUT OUT in 16 games in all the season's competitions thus including the deplorable 0-1 defeat at home to lowly Stevenage in the League Cup, a cup tournament your manager couldn't be "BOTHERED" to take even half-serious ... yet AGAIN .... even though it must have dawned on you Mr. Evans aka 'The Successful Millionaire Business Man' that you could potentially have pocketed quite a few extra quid if your choice as manager did take these 2 big domestic cup tournaments 110% serious and thereby had us playing with the pure aim to progress as far as humanly possible while then hopefully drawing some lucrative Premier League clubs at home in the process! "Exhibit C"): And oh speaking of finances Mr. Evans, you simply must also somehow have noticed that your little pet & tax-benefit project called ITFC is not drawing remotely the same interest from consumers as a "product" worth neither their time nor their hard-earned money as it used to!, thus eventually reducing it's net income or overall value or whatever! to you Mr. Evans, as seen by for instance notably fewer season ticket holders and not the least continuously decreasing number of none season ticket holding folks going through the turnstiles at Portman Road! Looking forward to your immediate response..... :-)

....... most of us, if not all, wanted and still want you to be successful at our Club - what many of us object strongly to is your stubbornness, arrogance, and blatantly obvious disrespect for the Supporters. Couple that with your boring, defensive style football - and you have the sole reason for discontent. Many of us feel you will not, and probably cannot, change to what's required by today's game. The Owner, and yourself, may well not have any more ambition for the Club than mid table Championship - but we are not all of that mindset. Some respect would not go amiss for those who ultimately pay most of all your wages. No Fans - no Club.

Business tax is a complicated thing. Will one (or more) of the posters who cite Marcus Evan's ownership of Ipswich Town as no more than a clever tax write-off please explain exactly how that works. I would genuinely like to know.
